bed liner question

So I got my rock sliders on and my skid plate. They are both raw metal unpainted. I want to bed line it. I have already used a product called RAPTOR on m chrome bumpers. I will not lie the raptor stuff is ok. But maybe because I used it on chrome and so I have few chips and it does scrape kinda easily with my nail. I think I should of used a rougher sand paper instead of 120. Anyways it still looks good and is holding up. Back to the skid plate ans rock sliders. I want to know of anyone has any expierence with other products. Herculiner ?? Amazon sells a raptor kit online for $100+ with gun.

Maybe raptor will be good on skid plate and rock sliders. But if anyone has expierence with herculiner. Because I want something with TEXTURE raptor doesnt really have texture it's more glossy and it doesn't have pores. Any tips on preping for BARE METAL

+2 for the monstaliner. Great stuff. I used the raptor and it works fairly well too but monstaliner is better. How much better?

No I haven't really but it is a good choice. What paint would you recommend for that ? I used VHT CHASSY paint on my frame. This would prob work on sliders. As for skid plate I think liner would be nice. Any tips of keeping bare metal for paint

This is the tan Killer Beej color from Monstaliner. I rolled the fenders as it was easier to do on the truck.

This is the dark part. It is actually Toyota Anthracite but the metallic doesn't come out very well except in this pic. This was sprayed.

I think I am going to roll my fenders and rocker/bottom of the doors someday. The rolled texture looks pretty good and easy to do. How do tape lines come out? Seems like with such a thick material it would be hard to get clean lines.
 
Well if you have a rough surface like I did then you have to take your time applying the tape and you will have bleed through somewhere but if it's gloss you probably won't as long as you taped it well on a clean surface. The great thing about the most a liner with tinting is that if you wait 24 hours or even 12 hours the two different colors of monsta liner will not bond so all it takes is some detail work with an exacto knife and voila. Your bleed through is removed.

Rolling really is cake to do. I like how my truck came out but it would have been easier to roll honestly.

It's either two coats rolling or 3-4 spraying. I ended up with 6 or 7 coats on the body because I went with two gallons lol.
 
That look awesome. How much was it ? Where did u get the product. Any tips on what primer to use on bare metal ? For paint or bed liner
 
Monstaliner.Com is where you order from. I did my truck for about 450 in paint and tinting. Platic, tape, shultz gun, and other odds and ends push it out to 550 or so. Self etching primer is what I would use on bare metal for monstaliner and most other paints. I only acid etch if it is recommended by the paint. They sell kits which help gather materials and they are decent quality kits too. I used their rollers, tape, paint tray, and rolling handle.
 
Raptor instructions say it needs to be sprayed over a catalyzed paint or primer. If you use it be sure to follow the directions, that may be why its coming off the scuffed chrome. I like Raptor but even 2 coats of it doesn't build like a higher quality bed liner, it's more like the factory rock guard on vehicles. It's also nice it can be tinted too unlike some products. I just wish the build thickness was thicker.

Yes it goes on very thin. I agree. What do you mean by catalyzed paint or primer. Chrome in general is hard to paint on. Although I did scuff it very hard.
 
Catalyzed is just fancy for a two part paint or primer, meaning one part is paint and the other is a hardener. Just not spray paint, that is an air cured product while a two part is a chemical cured process - sometimes baked if you have a paint booth. Think of it like epoxy, you mix the two parts together and the stuff hardens. I think Raptor just wants to make sure you are using their product over a quality product or base so it will stick better. A good scuffing on top of that should ensure a good mechanical bond as well.
 
With chrome I would have acid etched. It is a very smooth surface and the acid often leaves behind a residue that paint will adhere to. For the life of me I can't remember what it leaves behind though. Some kind of sulfate?
