Best 3" lift for a 2wd 1999 4Runner

New guy here. I am wanting to fix up my 99 a little and would like to run 33's on it. I have 31" tires now and am thinking that 3" would be just fine. I drive 100 miles a day in the truck and want good road ride and decent off road performance. Gonna do a rear tire carrier as well so think about that as well.

Thanks for the help.

FYI, any 4runner running 33"ers will have rubbing. With just a suspension lift, when fully compressing the front wheels, the tires will rub the top of the inner fenders. Adding a body lift 1"-1.5" will minimize this rubbing (you are moving the body away from the suspension bumpstops). Also 33"s will usually rub the back of the front fender wells when turning. The majority of the time will rub the upper front control arms (sidewall) on stock wheels (stock backspacing).

If you wheel lightly or not at all, the rubbing on top shouldn't be an issue. The rubbing on the back of the front wheel well will not change. You will need to do some trimming and/or pounding. To eliminate the UCA rub, you will need wheel spacers or wheels with less backspacing.

Note: Not all brand/model tires measure the same. They can vary +or- 1". Some tires will rub more than others. (I know someone that is running 33" BFG ATs on stock wheels and just barely clear the UCA)

I lifted my 99 2wd with OME stuff, too. I also run 33"s, daily driver.

Here's the link to my info, I'm very pleased with it.
I also lifted my 2wd with OME gear. Went with 881s with top plate spacers and 890s. Also went with the OME shocks all around. I like it way better than when it was stock and soft. It does ride a bit stiff, but that is likely due to my Load Range E Duratracs rather than the suspension.

I agree with this. When I was doing my research, some people had issues w/ 285s, and some did not. Some had to run wheel spacers on stock wheels, and others didn't. I took a gamble (and lost) and didn't order wheel spacers....I couldn't drive the truck bc the side lugs on my tires rubbed the UCA. Luckily, WabFab had some 2" spacers on hand and that got me through til he could get me 1.25" spacers all around. We had to trim the fenders/flares in the front of the wheel well, and had to pound down the pinch weld in the rear of the wheel well. Now, no rubbing unless fully flexed out. Just keep all that in mind so you won't be surprised if/when any issues arise.
