Best Aftermarket Seat Warmers

I put in Rostra seat heaters in my 4Runner. The swithces for the controls fit into the middle console and look factory as well. Cost me about $200 for both front seats. Took me a couple hours to put them in myself as well.

Mine get toasty in a few minutes without any difficulty. The Rostra aftermarket set have two settings, either just the back or the back and the thighs. I set mine to back and things and this limits to a high and a low temperature setting.
The wifey likes them too. This winter was much more tolerable with the but warmers than last - especially considering how cold it was this year.

As much as I would like to have the switches light up, they are simple rocker panels and it really is not neccessary.
In an attempt to get switches that light, I ordered the seat switches for the T4R Limited that do light up but they have an entirely different connector. Most of the switches you'll find for this sort of application really just have a small light that shows that they are on, and nothing more than that.
The Rostra seat kit can be ordered with the switches that clip right into the console between the seats and look factory as well. Go ahead and order the Rostra kit, install it, have them there when you need them, and then worry about trying to find a set of lit swtiches.

The standard kit has a small circular button that does light up - but you would have to drill out a hole to place it in somewhere. There is a kit - I forget the model number - that has the T4R switches.
I will try to take a picture of it today and post it, but my luck with posting pictures on the forums is sadly pathetic.

Rosta is a good warmer. My friend have one. He said it took only 2-4 minutes to warm up. I think that is fast.

Would these work with the Liquicell leather seats? You know the ones with the gel in them. I don't want to mess up that gel but really want seat heaters.

I was under the impression that installing heated seats in cloth was a fire hazard... isn't that why you can only buy heated seats in leather from the factory?

I installed a kit from Heated Seats Kit:

I liked that the heating elements were the "carbon" weave so you could cut anywhere on the heating element without affecting the heating capability. I cannot tell if the Rosta's are the same but I would assume so (they may actually be the same kit). I installed these on my 2003 SE with cloth seats 2 years ago, still working. Some day I will wire them properly though so that they are behind the accessories circuit. Right now I have it wired on the powered seat circuit since it is 30A line and is going to the driver seat, even though it only has the power lumbar. Of course if I forget to turn off the heaters, I may come out to a dead battery at the end of the day.

Sorry to repost but does anyone know if seat warmers would be a bad idea with the Liquicell leather seats? I don't want to mess up the gel inside or cause any fire hazard but I really want seat heaters.

There are some kits that have a lo/hi function. I can't imagine the lo setting harming anything. I can't tell you if they will or will not harm your seats, but I would think not.

Nope, Vw and Audi have had heated cloth for years as well as a few other manufacturers. If the heaters got hot enough to actually be a fire hazard they would get painfully hot waaaay before ignition actually became an issue.
