When I took my stock rack off last week I found three rock chips on the roof!

Yep. The leading edge of the roof right around the windshield, the side mirrors, the A pillars, the leading edges of the hood scoop and the hood creases are where a lot of rock chips happen. That's in addition to the front bumper cover of course.
Touch up paint application tip:
The touch up brush in the OEM touch up paint bottles usually are too big for small chips and you end up globbing too much paint into the chipped area. When I am touching up a small chip, this is what I do:
1. Clean area with rubbing alcohol and wipe off
2. Take a small piece of soft paper, like toilet or tissue paper and twist it up where one end comes to a hard point. Alternative is using a paper match but those are getting harder to come by nowadays.
3. Use the touch up brush and a piece of metal or glass (empty beer bottles are somehow always in the trash at my house) and brush a bit of paint onto the glass.
4. Now take that twisted tip of paper and touch it on the still wet paint on the bottle...
5. Touch the tip of paper to the chipped area. The paint will wick into the chip, filling it nicely without globbing.
Takes all of 30 seconds.
