Best front bumper?

What kinda of weight do you think your bumpers are running? Can you attach at least one tow shackle? Can you you use a hi- lift and jack up the front, with out the jack slipping! I want to keep the weight down and still use it!

The one i'm doing is not from a kit I made up a design myself and bought a 4x6 foot sheet of 1/8 steel and a smaller plate of 1/4 inch (or mounts and what not) and am starting from scratch, it will look similar to the shrockworks one posted by obkook here: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/82250-everyone-plate-bumper-post-pics-here-2.html

except on mine, the piece in the middle on the front is not as wide and the angled pieces next to it take up more space along the front, will post pics when I'm all done

Yea, either that or I'm going to get Rhinoliner bed spray on it, I'm not quite sure yet, i'm kinda leaning towards the Rhinoliner as long as it is not too rough, just slightly bumpy

I love my addicted offroad bumper.

ARB or similar bumpers will provide the most front-end protection. The tube styles are lighter with more clearance. I saw TJM mentioned, I have a T-15 on my Tacoma that I bought through sierraexpeditions.com

Looks sweet. Do you like the T-15 bumper? Would your tube bumper survive a deer at 60? I like the per runner look. It would help keep weight down!

Yea I like the T-15. I don't know if it would survive a deer at 60, that would be quite an impact. I have seen pics of ARB bumpers mangled by deer and the TJM is very similar.

I sure like the looks of your truck! That's nice! Right now I have an older ARB on with out bull bars. Will need to mod it to fit my Warn Zeon 10s. Thanks!

What type of steel did you use (4130?) and where did you find sheets that large? I have been looking at McMaster-Carr, and the largest they list is 3' x 3'.

Does a bumper require any type of heat treating or tempering after it is welded?

I'd look up metal supply shops in your area, most every city will have at least one that will sell steel to the public.

It would be a helluva lot cheaper buying local and just driving it home, rather than ordering online and paying the shipping charge for steel that large in size.

I'm not sure exactly what type of steel, but I live kinda near Hinton Steel Company in Denver (Only one in US I think), they sell giant sheets of 12 gauge, what i got, and it does not need any tempering after its welded

I've seen homemade, wooden AWB-style bumper before on an older Yota pickup in Michigan. It was neat, but no fog lights.
