Best Looking Black Wheels, 2010 4Runner

total noob, first time poster here but if all things work out i should be joining the club here in the next week or so. I like the look of a white SR5 with black wheels.

the dealer was trying to sell me on a model on the lot that was pre-installed with a lift kit and wheels and would drop the price to cost ($4,500) but i decided to wait and get a model without the upgrade and do it myself.

i have looked through the whole thread and have narrowed the wheel down to probably one of the following
Enkei M6
Konig six shooter
Konig Countersteer
ScS Stealth 6 (site doesnt currently have 17 inch)


Im not looking to get too aggressive with the wheel and tire since i dont plan to do a whole lot of off road and will mainly be doing street/freeway driving. what would be a good set up that wont require a lift kit or anything too complicated.

Good call on doing it yourself. All the dealer installed lifts I've seen use a cheap spacer and wheels and charge a ridiculous price. But advantage there is you're covered under warranty if somethings goes wrong. With a lift installed by the owner, after purchase, depending on how much modifications are done, it voids warranty. That happened with my Tacoma after I lifted it.

Konig's would be my first choice. Those are sweet wheels. But as others have mentioned, if you intend to go off road they'll get hit by rocks and ding and scratch up soon. Something to keep in mind. There's also loads of used wheels here and Craigslist that are great bargains. You can change to FJ, Tacoma, and Tundra wheels but some of those have slightly different offsets so do your homework.

All the guys with teflon coated rims...

Just ordered a set of ATX Ledge Teflon coated rims. Can anyone else out there with Teflon coated rims tell me how they are balanced?

I am concerned that the stick-on weights will not adhere well to the inside of the rim because of the coating, but I certainly don't want to use the old-skool clip-on weights...

Just wondering how everybody else did it.

Can anyone shed light on what the differences are between the stock Toyota locks vs the bolts? Photos of each would be great And is it worth getting the locks from Toyota? Thanks!

The rubbing was only on the fender liner in front of the tire when the wheels were in full lock (both driver and passenger side). I fixed it by massaging the liner after heating the spot with a heat gun, there is a seam that juts out about an inch on the plastic liner that was causing most of the rubbing. The fix took 20min.
