Best On-Board Air Setups

Would you all mind throwing up some pics of your air setups, with specs, and let me know how you like them. I am looking for the best solution to air up 35's in less than an afternoon... TIA

puts out a ton of air. ive been using one for a few years now. the only thing I don't like is the air chuck it comes with. I swapped it out for a euro style lock on chuck. much better.

im on 37's, and it gets them back up to 30 fairly quick. its been a while since I time it, I don't remember exactly how long. but something like 3-4 minutes. depending on how low I air down. im able to do all 4 of them in one shot, without letting the compressor cool down. typically less than 20 minutes total, including packing the compressor away.

Not the cheapest, but I'll match it against any unit the same size.
it truly is continuous duty, I've got three of them and have watched them smoke the brand name units.
One is mounted in my crawler, one is in my tow rig under the fender, and one is in a milk crate as a portable unit, all are more than ten years old and will run with any unit out there.

On my offroad Jeep I'm using an Air Conditioning unit for onboard air. On my towrig I'm using an Air Zenith. It has a continuous draw of 55amps +/-. Anything that plugs into a cigarette lighter will take some time. The compressed CO2 works well if you have the space.

You get what you pay for.

If you want the "best" you will pay big money..
Ive so many different OBA compressors and the Oasis is without doubt, THE BEST... It IS as fast as a freshly filled CO2 bottle.
We personally tested it side by side at about 10,000 ft. same tires, same size tire, aired down to 15 PSI... The oasis filled the tire to the same PSI as the CO2..

Its big, its heavy, it has to be mounted upright and it is expensive. I have seen them on craigslist for a few hundred bucks..
Right now Im running a viair with a 2.5G tank which I plan on getting another tank for more air storage.

Defiantly a beast, I hadn't seen these before. I've used an AC compressor, I've mounted a dedicated belt driven compressor, and recently the 12V. compressors have found favor due to limited use, and flexible mounting options. certainly some drawbacks, but good info for sure.

Something I would recommend considering is a power tank co2 setup. You can also make your own co2 tank setup for a bit cheaper.. co2 tanks are way faster than air compressors for filling tires, unless your compressor is hooked up to a storage tank.. let me know if you want me to list the parts to make your own co2 tank setup.

I love my cheapo CO2 tank setup. Carry a Smittybilt for backup that I modified to take a normal quick connect instead of the crappy one that came with it.

I also carry a straight chuck with no internals and with it the CO2 tank is pretty good at reseating beads.

Ive had it, stopped working within 30 days, got another one, that one lasted about 2 months, got another didnt even install it, wound up giving to a friend. Went with CO2 and now have a Viair, been running perfect for about 6 months now. :lookout:

X2 on the Puma. I love mine and it had never missed a beat. When you are looking make sure to look at the CFM Specs at 90psi not at Zero.

I know, thats why I went with ARB,, but I wont ever get another one lol
so much happier with the Viar.
I just had 2 or 3 that was junk out of the thousands they make lol oh well..

I really like my Oasis, for only airing up tires it overkill, if u want the ability to use air tools in the field or other systems u may want... i.e. pressured watered system, air locks, etc. it worth the cost and mounting space/weight it takes.

You can use co2 for air lockers and tools as well (just isn’t unlimited..) cost me 15$ to refill a 20lb tank at my local hydroponic store and a 20lb tank gets me about 40 tire refills with my 33” tires.. each tire takes roughly 30 seconds to fill up.

A CO2 tank is probably far and away the fastest source for "air" when compared to that compressor , a 10lb tank is filled to 3000psi of liquid CO2. It can run air tools, fill tires fast and easy. I don't think that compressor is in the same category as a CO2 bottle.

A 10lb bottle will run an air gun to swap out a flat, and still refill a good # of tires.

For my needs I opted for compressors, mainly for cabin space, all of mine are mounted under my rigs plumbed to a convenient location to connect.

And with battery tools what they are today, you can carry an 18V 1/2" impact.

Right on. That’s why I went with a air compressor. It’s smaller and fits my needs better. To each is own.
