best place to order tires

I am going to pull the trigger and buy 5 (five) Duratracs at 285/75/r16. arty: I have done some searching and I can get 5 shipped from Discount Tire Direct for $1275 (255 each) to my door. This is before the $60 mail in rebate form. Does anyone know of a better deal online? Local shops want closer to $1700. I can get them mounted and balanced for $100 locally.

I've always dealt with Tirerack. Have ordered tires and wheel packages as well as just tires. Then you shop around for a shop that installs the tires for you.

Treaddepot.com or onlinetires.com are the two cheapest places I've found. You may get discount tire to price match the tires plus shipping. If they won't price match, buy them from the site, and then pay the $80 discount charges to mount and balance. I've been looking at KM2s in that size and treaddepot is almost $200 cheaper after paying discount $80 to mount.

Another +1 for treaddepot.com. I got a quote for some 285 BFG's mounted/balanced on KMC Enduro's, and it was a flat out awesome price. Probably $250 cheaper than TireRack.

I got my tires from discount tire direct. It's America's Tire's (in CA) website and if its a tire they stock they will price match the online price OTD in store as well. Or you can ship to their shop if you're ready for install. Worked out well in my case.
