Best places to wheel in the US

Hey guys, I am doing an internship this summer after I graduate and I have yet to find out where I want to go. I will be picking up a 2014 SR5P 4x4 in May and really want to go somewhere that I can drive the Runner. It will be stock and I will have limited off road experience.

I'm currently in central Texas. I've been considering NC, CO and CA. Anyone have any other suggestions?

How long do you plan to be on the road?

I'm very partial to SW Colorado, Ouray, Silverton and Telluride. You can do many of the trails in that area in a stock T4R. Moab is only 3.5 hours farther. Plus the general scenery of the area is very hard to beat.

I will only be interning from late May to early August, but depending on where I go I might start a career there. Definitely heard great things about SW CO!

Uwharrie is supposed to be awesome and they even have off road training there as well. Looks like it's about two hours from you.

Western Colorado and Southern Utah. That's why I live here.

California is where all the wheeling is at. Arizona and Colorado are good too.

Utah has lame trails and smells bad.

My favorites are SW Colorado and Moab. Wheeled both several times and the scenery and trails are amazing.

If ever in MO the places to go are-

Flat nasty off road park and SMORR.

Both are very pretty and you can just cruise or just get silly and put anything on its lid.

They offer classes and have many trails that are great with great views.

This would be my recommendation as well.

Moab is cool. Definitely a bucket list kind of destination. There's a ton of good trails in NM and AZ also. I've always wanted to wheel in Cali., also on my bucket list.

Stay away from PA. Seriously. The only 1/2 decent wheeling is on privately owned property or parks, like Rausch Creek, where you have to pay to wheel. All the eastern states are way over populated, with not enough public land for vehicle based recreation.
