Best products to use on rusty frame

I prefer a product called Miracle Paint. I have used POR 15 on a couple of old car restorations and it was fine. Miracle Paint just seems to work way better with a lot less prep work. In fact I think Miracle Paint is just a really thick version POR 15.

I recently used Por-15 on several projects. So far, I'm extremely satisfied with it. I had some before and after pics, but they're on an old phone. It's pretty straight forward....
I took a wire brush to get rid of the loose stuff. Sprayed the prep on there (basically a mild acid), washed that off, and coated with the Por-15. Two coats. They have a Top Coat Paint to go over that as well if what you paint is going to see a lot of sun. I bought some, but haven't applied that yet.

POR15 is a pain in the ass. I usually use Rustoleum. Despite the haters, it holds up great and I'm not spending big bucks either. I do want to give that Miracle Paint a try through since I've been hearing great stuff about it.
BTW, once you are done with the sanding and painting, inject the inside of the frame rails with Fluidfilm or used motor oil!

I would seriously give this stuff a thought, it is my favorite stuff for frame rust, and is fun to apply!

I use Fluid Film myself to prevent rust on newer vehicles and then to deal with it on older ones. For rust wire brush and wire wheel the rust as well as possible. Take your time, it's worth the effort.
After removing as much rust as you can, spray enough fluid film on that you can start brushing it around with a paint brush, smoothing it all out. You can't really put too much on unless it's dripping all over the ground.
Fluid film never really dries. Dust cakes in it and seems to make it a bit more resistant to washing away, which is a bonus.
I put it on twice a year which doesn't take long after that first clean up of the rust scale, which can be epic.
It works, doesn't stink bad and is supposedly non toxic being lanolin based.
Fluid film supposedly safe on rubber etc per there website.
I spray on everything except rotors brakes lol. I even spray it on exterior paint chips. I purchased 10 cans from advance auto used coupon code came to roughly 7-8 bucks a can. Think 3-4 cans should be enough to lightly coat under chassis and spray inside the frame as well.
I've used Eastwood rust encapsulator followed by extreme chassis paint on my 96 after all the prep work and paint brush, mini paint gun etc to have some surface rust show through a year later. Spraying oil (fluid film) on the under chassis is so much easier.

I've always tried to avoid spraying it on any rubber. There's other stuff made for that.
Their website says:
" Care should be taken around non oil resistant rubber goods. May cause swelling. Fluid Film may soften some vehicle undercoatings. This includes undercoating type paints. Check with dealer/manufacturer for compatibility."
I see, I dont intentionally spray down the the rubber hoses under the chassis but if its in the way of rust area its gonna get some fluid film on it.
I also dont use a paint brush to smooth out sprayed on fluid film. To each there own.

Oh well I'm lazy I dont get involved with not spraying this or that.
