Best salvage day

last week I was really busy finding parts for an old Honda, and hoping for an engine for a Camry. After spending 2 hours in the yard, finding little more than a good radiator fan, I began to walk to the check out to pay for my find feeling tired and defeated. And behold, a 3rd gen on a forklift, could I be so lucky, fresh parts. I waited patiently while they rested the car on block so I could go score me some parts, it was a black 98, I got me a roof rack, steering wheel, spiral cable, cargo cover, cargo mat, HVAC controller, power window master switch, 3 OEM ignition coils, Front bumper, leather door armrests. Looking back i should have pulled the gauges as well, but my wheel barrow was full.

I found two southern 4Rs in the yard here in PA. It's a pain finding parts that aren't halfway rusted back to earth and a fight to get rusted parts loosened. Man did it feel good turning bolts that weren't rusted. Scored me a near brand new steering rack for $35! A few months back I picked up an e-locked diff for $75. Love finding good stuff at the pick-n-pulls.

I love having this generation 4runner. I go to the yard sometimes in Phoenix and am able to get what I need but today I finally was able to locate a set of headrest for the rear In tan leather. But I took the fronts and they fit and are adjustable then I was able to find a working armrest lid and re wrapped it with stuff from the fabric store and a few of the blanks for the interior switches. Only spent 19$ for all of it. Was better compared to online (ebay). But at the end of the day as long as we are happy that's what matters.

I know the feeling from time to time I can find the whole vehicle and save some $$$ that way.
