The only problem I see with TJM is if you plan on putting on a full size Gobi rack. The snorkel will be in the way.

Actually, it doesn't interfere with the roof rack at all. I have this setup on mine with the full size Gobi Stealth rack (no rise option), with the wind deflector installed. The installation procedure is a little more complicated as the snorkel tube runs inside the fender well into the air box (TRD Air Box in my case), requiring the fender liner and fender trim piece to be temporarily removed for proper installation.

The air box has a drain hole in it so if water does get sucked in, it will drain there. Now I know if you are getting a snorkel for water crossings then it would only make sense to plug this hole. For me, I don't plan on major water crossings, but want a snorkel for cleaner air. Where I go its often super dusty and my filter reflects it.

I don’t plan on taking it through water that deep but I figure if you’re going to put a snorkel on might as well give it that capability. I plan on adding breathers for the diffs and later waterproofing some of the electronics. I will also need to see if I can modify the modify exhaust to see if I need to make a upside down P trap if there is room.

I’ve done a deep water crossing once in my 1986 M-1044 USMC HMMWV. Nice thing about USMC vehicle they are already rigged for it. Just flip the lever to disengage the fan and drive in. Bad thing about them is they are designed flood inside while crossing so they sink to the bottoms to gain traction. My vehicle reeked for months after that. On top of that I didn’t realize my vent tube for the rear diff breather came off and filled it with water. I ended up just flushing and replacing all my fluids after that just to make sure everything was clean. So I’ll avoid deep crossings unless it’s unavoidable.

So Safari and Dobinson is a look, I get it, it's very traditional. The TJM airtec snorkel is very polarizing. The TJM has one thing going for it, it's low profile. I know thats not what your going for, but when you hit that monster flexing bicep on something your quarter panel and door may do some of their own flexing.

So the short version fits all 5th gen but the long only the 14+?
It sure doesn't look like either would fit with the 10-13 antenna. Anybody actually have one of these on a 10-13?

FTS: I've never heard of until now, and I'm liking the glossy look, just the intake portion is a little odd to me; It is just a complete throw off.

TJM: I was going to go with them, however I didn't like how a video on FaceTube showed water being sucked into the intakes during heavy showers; They're not as frequent, but the North East does get them, which is slightly concerning.

Dobinson: I was told that they're slightly less durable than the ARB counter product. Which again, is concerning, but I do like that it doesn't say "Safari" on it. Did they ever fix the template on newer models?!

ARB: The durability from ARB, the Mounting Template, and such turns me on. However, I just can't get over "Safari" being stamped on it. WhHhHhHhHhY.

Throwing out a little information on the ARB Safari snorkel. It's top notch in quality and durability. I've ran it for a few years now through heavy rain, snow, freezing fog, and dust storms. NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER with any weather condition. The inlet head is designed to drain water out if any gets sucked in such as rain btw. I've smacked the snorkel into countless bushes and small tree branches and it's brushed it aside like nothing. I don't recommend hitting it into anything stout, but as one guy in this thread showed, it will probably damage the fender before the snorkel. I've also hit a metal gate arm that was closing and the snorkel took the hit, knocked the arm off it's hinges, and protected the 4runner from the metal arm at the same time. I can't recommend this snorkel enough. My airbox is definitely cleaner (dust and dirt) than when I had the stock intake, but it still does get dirty with dust and dirt and bugs because of the ram air inlet design. I might consider a prefilter such as the sy-clone or the one [MENTION=151737]mrblah[/MENTION] posted. Currently the sy-clone is on sale for a really good price.

That's definitely someone's opinion and not verified that I've ever seen. I've sold hundreds upon hundreds of these and never had a single issue with cracking, fading or any kind of "durability" issues with any Dobinsons snorkel.

I ordered a Dobinson's and even though everything lined up before the install and nothing lined up after drilling and I measured 3 times before drilling 1 hole, I love it. I would hate to have to take the thing off the install was horrible but the overall product is great.

I'm running the Dobinsons snorkel. I've been very happy with it and had no complaints about the fitment. It wasn't 100% perfect but no complaints here. I didn't drill into the A-Pillar for that bracket and just used 3M tape. So far so good.

Also if it means anything I purchased from CrickeyMike on here (exit offroad) and his customer service and shipping speed was top notch.

I never thought about that, the wipers push the water in to the snorkel, but it depends what side the snorkel is on the car and which hand drive the car is. If that's a right side snorkel and also a right hand drive, it's funneling all that water into the snorkel. Not good!!

just curious what type of positive/negative effects people are seeing in power/MPG with a snorkel? I can see the dust benefits, but just curious at what cost. I just came back from some dusty offroading and could see how a prefilter could be beneficial in that situation.
