Snorkels - eBay vs Dobinsons

I am interested to see if anyone is running the eBay snorkel and what their thoughts are. It comes in $85 less than the Dobinsons, which is not earth shattering, but from the pictures, I personally can't see any difference.

I don't mind spending more for the Dobinsons as I have read many positive remarks, but if this is one of those same product but one has no brand situations, I'll put the savings toward another modification.

eBay - $280

IN this case because it's such a small difference in price I'd go Dobinson as you're going to have a manufacturer standing behind it. With Ebay you're more likely to be SOL if something goes wrong.

There is little to no difference between both as far as you look at them other than price, brand name and maybe some slightly better quality control (can't really tell tbh on the last one).

I went with an ebay Prado snorkel way before there was an option available for the 4th gen and its been a few years with it all ready, no color fading issues and its been put to good use other than some scratches from wheeling.

It's a plastic snorkel. Not really much can go wrong with it unless it's caused by the end user/installer.

I paid 235$ for an Ebay snorkel. It was OBO and the seller accepted. No complaints with the quality just didn't come with directions. Funny thing is the snorkel has the exact same Dobinson's model number stamped into it ( #SN59-3471). So if you're trying to save money go for it, its literally the same thing.

Ok, so I just got in the ebay snorkel in. Read through the forum but nowhere does it give a straight forward answer as to what else one should do in regards to this install. I'm taking my time because it's the first one I've done, but I want to make sure I do it right. Couple questions, 1. What's the standing on sealing the airbox? Wouldn't one want a drainage hole still? 2. If any were in my shoes what's some things you wish you did on your build in regards to the snorkel? Thanks all

You never want a hole below the air intake which is high in the fender, otherwise water will go in, not out. I think the bottom of the air box is below that air intake, thus putting a hole in the bottom is a bad idea.

If the factory air box does not have a drain hole, you don't need a drain hole.
