Best Tie Down Method For Cross Country Trailer Ride

So we're moving cross country with a 1700 mile trip. Driving a 26' Penske Diesel moving truck with 1999 runner riding on a tandem axle trailer. What is the best tie down method for the runner?

I read in off road mag that they recommend having the straps attached to the axles to allow the suspension to move as normal. This would be instead of attaching tie downs to the frame and compressing the suspension. The reason they stated using the axles as the attach point is that the suspension would move (even if compressed) on large bumps which would allow the vehicle to slowly move/dance around on the trailer. I tend to agree. I will have 2 dogs and 2 cats riding in the runner on the trailer so tying down with the suspension able to move as normal is probably a better ride for them.

Anybody have advice or experience in this. Thanks fellas.

When I moved my aunt across country a couple yrs ago I rented a Penske car hauler and everything needed to secure the car was there and part of the trailer. Heavy duty ratchet strap assemblies secured all 4 wheels and there were 1 or 2 hard attachment points (chains around frame or whatever). I didn't have any issues and the car was rock solid the whole trip. Gl and have a safe trip :)

Thanks for that. They did mention they include all necessary tie down straps. Sounds like they included webbed straps for all tires plus some extra back up chains for the frame then.

The article is correct. Either tie down the non-suspended pieces/parts or use the tie down straps that go around the tires if it's a rental trailer.
