Please try to refrain from vomiting when I say this next bit: As a chick, I've never had to work on cars.
I was extremely proud of myself just for figuring out how to check my own transmission fluid. I'd like to learn on a car that I don't care so much about, so if I blow it, who cares? Or I need a mentor. Whenever I've asked shops if I can watch n' learn, they say "No customers in the garage, for your own safety ma'am."

When I used to go to Stealer for something like a brake service or timing belt, I would just walk into the repair area and go straight to my truck. Then I hear usual spiel "Sir, you can't be here It's work area, dealer policy...", that kind of BS. I just tell them that I already here and need to see old timing belt, old brakes or what have you. It's funny, but they have no idea what else to say, they can't call bouncer to kick me out or anything. So, they stop wining and resume their work while I hang out by dock doors watching and learning.
