Best Way To Get ~ 2" of lift?

I need a lift on my truck but I don't want to do a full 3 in lift. What are your suggestions for about a 2" lift in the rear. I have quite a few options. 99 coils. OME 906s. Spacers...What do yall think?

Oh and heres what my axel looks like in relation to the bump tops...there's about an inch and a half of travel before it hits them. If I have two or more people in the back, its riding on those things all day and it sucks...

Oh and another question...Do having those OME shocks (I didn't put them on, the previous owner did, was kinda funny to find that out) at the stock ride hight make it ride rough? It rides pretty terribly right now and I feel like alot of blame is on those shocks.

Can you post a pic of your coil spring and a side shot of the bump stop looks like it might be an extended bump stop. but can't tell for sure. also look on your springs for a small tag see if there are any numbers on it. or if there are colored paint dots on it. also what size tires are you running and what is the measurement from the ground to the center of the rear wheel well. these things will help use help you.

Yeah, it almost looks like you have a 4runner with an OME lift, but have extended bump stops and your suspension is probably shot.

how many inches are you ground to rear fender with no one in the 4runner

and ditto to Drifters questions... we need more info

It looks like they're the OEM bump stops. And I can tell that the coils are the originals too because my car was sprayed with that anti-rust crap when it was new, and the coils have it on the top where it meets the frame. I'm running 275/70/16s and they need to be replaced, about to get the same size again because I really like the way they look compared to the stock tires. I'm going to get some cragar soft 8s with a little less than an inch less backspacing to push them out a little further as well...

Here's the way it sits, to me it doesn't sit any higher than any other 4Runner. The distance from the ground to the flare it 35.6 in the front and about 35.4 in the rear...so it's sagging slightly with no one in it.

his pic you can see the white tag with the OME 3's on it mine are 890's. You can also see that my bump stops are a lot shorter than yours. I also have the cone style bumps inside the coil if you look close you can see it. Somewhere along the way there was a recall on the bump stops I'm not sure what years were involved.

If you truly do have OEM springs that are shot and good OME shocks it probably dose ride like a battle wagon. I would leave the shocks alone and pick up some new coils. I am very happy with my OME 890's but for less lift I think you would want the 906's. I can't really say for sure but others will correct me if I'm wrong.

Drifter, you dont think the OME springs would sag more with no load? I just havent seen a rig with completely shot OME springs yet, but I think thats probably the case also...

If the springs are shot then the shocks are probably shot too and I would do them at the same time... but thats just me.

The shocks look new to me though the stickers aren't faded and they don't seem that dirty...after 135k miles, surely he replaced them recently. If it indeed does have a fully shot OME lift then I guess I just need to replace everything? The shocks, for one, don't feel shot....they are REALLY stiff... I feel like it sagging is screwing up the whole suspension.

May be some one replace the shock with OME and left the shot OEM springs. I have not heard of OME springs being shot.

That's what I feel like happened...but I don't know how that happened...so Do you think I should just get the 906s or maybe just do the full 3" lift?

Yes the shocks do look new and if someone did pare new OME shocks with trashed OEM springs I can only guess that the ride would suck. If your shocks are new these might be just the ticket.

The price on the springs are the same so it depends on what you want and how you will be using the truck do you go 4x4ing ever, often, never? Daily driver or weekend worrier. then you have to look at the front also. 3" will require Diff drop kit. do you have OME shocks in the front?

Its a daily driver but I'll def be hitting some trails soon when I get all of this straightened out.

It does have OME shocks in the front again with the OEM springs I assume... The thing is I want about an inch or maybe a little less of rake so maybe do the 890s in the back and get spacers with a diff drop in the front? Will the ride still suck with the spacers or should I get coils for the front too? Maybe the 881s without the top spacer? Thanks for all your help by the way.

I think you sit too high to have shot OEM coils. Like the others said, the shocks are fairly new because the paint is still pretty good on them. I'll bet you have 880s (or 881s) and 906s. Your bump stops are definitely not stock and are too long for your lift. Take those off for now (and replace them with OEMs) and Ill bet your ride improves immediately.

It hits the bump stops in the rear regularly but only when I go over pretty big bumps in the road. Otherwise when im going down normal concrete it still is very stiff. I think its more than just removing the long bump stops. Heres my front setup by the way. As you can see, it too it hitting the stops regularly.

And if you pick up a set of the cone style stops that go insied the coil that will ad Aprox 1/4 to 3/8" to the rear. You should be able to find them at a salvage yard cheep

Your front cv's dont have much angle on them like mine and I have the diff drop. have you checked to see if you already have a diff drop I doubt that you do but you never know..

I just removed the font skids yesterday to change the oil and I was looking around...its the two brackets that hold the diff...I think there actually was a spacer there but I havent seen anyone elses setup so I didnt notice anything for sure...

OMEs aren't known for riding plush. Most say their OMEs ride firm-stiff. I still think those are not OEM coils by the way they sit pretty high (to me it looks like a 1.5-2" lift in full-body shots). And when my old OEM coils started getting old, they didn't ride harsh, unless I hit a big bump, otherwise they had a boat-like feel (the opposite of firm and supported).
