Best way to get the top 2 switches off the transfer case?

There are 2 switches on the rear of the transfer case near the actuator, I replaced those. Now I need to get to the top 2 on the top of the transfer case, how did you guys pull those? I read where one guy cut a wrench in half and put it on and used a pry bar to break it free, anything else?

This is the image I found on Yotatech about "LCruner" replacing his top 2 switches, is this just the removal of the shifter surround? If anyone can chime in that would be great.

Drop the trans crossmember. That will allow a little more wiggle room for you to get in there.

If you go through the shifter, you need to take it ALL off from the inside if he truck. Out can't take that boot off without taking the entire shifter assembly thing off.

I can't quite tell from the picture, is that the shifter assembly he removed or is that under the cup holders / arm rest?

How much work is it to drop the trans crossmember and how much room do you think it would give me?

EDIT: This looks like it is under the armrest as a "Access panel", this picture was taken from the cup holder mod thread.

For the driver side two switches I was able to grind down an open end wrench and attacked it at an angle. The passenger side switch I got a 27mm crows foot to break it loose. Did not have to drop the transfer case at all. No lift kits or anything, just stock. Hope that saves some folks several hours of work.
