Best wheels/tires for 3rd gen T4R beach buggy

I'm new to the area and want to take my '99 out on the beach in Assateague. I don't want to lift it but wanted to find the best wheel/tire size without causing problems with rubbing, etc. I'm looking at 16"x9" wheels and 285/70R16 tires. Obviously all-terrain and something that rides relatively smooth on the road would be ideal. Not sure if the 285s will be too much though. Any recommendations would be appreciated!

you will need a 3" lift to run 285s with no issues
