better gas miliage on my '88

ok yes of course i have my 1st gen 4r for its offroading prowess but i have to drive it from oklahoma to cali and back twice a year, so im looking for some things to increase my mileage - so far its stock runnin 32s

smaller tires?....a little more power also(changes ratio). i've noticed when i put on my winter tread tires (235/75/15) my mileage went up a little bit. over my 31's. and i've run one of those STP fuel booster and noticed a +2mpg....my 2 cents

Smaller, lighter tires for the road trip would help. Start doing some testing on the tires to find out what PSI will yield the best mpg on the road. Sea Foam the engine(do a google search for "seafoam Toyota" and you should find several how to's"). The concentrated Chevron Techron works pretty good too.
Don't go faster than you have to. Sounds dumb, but the difference between going 75 mph and 68 mph can be 3mpg.
My 89, 3.0 4runner with 31's could get almost 20 mpg going to CA from Austin if I kept it under 78.
