BF Goodrich vs Revo

I'm still waiting on my OEM AT20's to wear out a bit more. I had BFG's on my previous 4 Runner. I'll go with LT285/70R17's in about two months.

Revo's don't come in 285 so that their loss.

With the lift, will the 285's fit without rubbing?

Nope, nobody has been able to fit 285/75/16 (33") without rubbing, that is after lifts.

It looks like some have tried the 275/70/17 and they rub a little too. Anybody tried anything bigger than the 265/70/17 with the lift and not got any rubbing?

You'll still have a 33" tire. Most people that went 33" used MT not AT tires so they had slightly bigger tires. I still think a lot of rubbing will happen with 285/70/17 AT's. ALso check you A arms if you keep the stock wheels, they are pretty close to the tire.

My next upgrade once I get a proper suspension/bumpers arrangement will be 33" A/T's I use it as a DD and dont think MT will work with my highway commute everyday. Oh and yes want to get some sliders first, hopefully soon.

But I really want to see how the 33"AT's look on 17" wheels, cause I will probably do the same sometime.

SOme guys (Aussies so dont ask) trim the brake calipers to fit 16" wheels on the Prado aka 4Runner.

Oh and do they clear the top A Arm on the stock wheels, just check when the wheel droops.

The only thing that has been able to stop my Revos has been some serious high centering (it slipped give me a break :arrow: ) and I've been in some pretty nasty mud pits, but hopefully a lift will be coming soon to help in that area.

Too small??

I'm ready to pull the trigger on the BFG ATs, and a spacer lift. I would like to go for the 285/70-17s but I don't like the idea of trimming.

My question is will the BFG AT, 265/70-17s look too small with a 2.5" Daystar or 3" Revtek lift??

It's a matter of opinion, I guess. My opinion is yes, 265/70-17 will look too small. Even if people can't place it, they'll still be thinking, "what's wrong with that truck"?

I have that setup: Daystar spacer lift and 265 70 17's. Might look a little smallish -- if I could easily do over I'd buy without XREAS and put a real lift and go up one size in tire -- ah, next time. P.S. I do get a bit of rubbing even with these at times.

Why does everybody want to run 265/70/17 when you can get the REVO's in stock size 265/65/17? For me that extra little bit of lift and small amount of rubbing isn't worth it. Also, I want to keep my speedometer and mileage as accurate as possible.

In the past, on my 93 Toyota truck, I ran BFG 31"x10.50x15 and they did great in the mud, snow, sand, and highway. Pretty much everything I could throw the truck in I was able to get out of. They did throw off my speedometer by 10% though. Something you had to remember when you saw the cops around you.

Right now I have the stock Dunlops, I’m a little afraid to go into any semi-deep mud with them. I’m afraid they will just spin with no traction. The tread isn’t very aggressive at all. I’m starting to look at some alternatives myself, but looking to keep the same dimension of tire.

rivertrek, I am in the same boat as you. I don't want to use a 265/70, when 265/65 is available. I just wish more brands and options were offered in the 265/65 configuration. The only offroad tire made in that size are the Revo's. It would be nice to have some Michelin LTX M/S in 265/65, those are sweet tires.

It's on their website, and has been for at least a month now. That’s when I first looked at the website. Click the link in my earlier post to see the tire info. They aren’t cheap at $143 a piece. It was kind of hard to find it, but you have to input your truck info and what size of tire you are looking for. That kind of limits the search parameters. Hope this helps.

I asked costco, they said it was $158 each including the installation. so around 600 for 4.

BTW, where did you get the Daystar lift? Do you remember the part number? And What did you pay?
