I have yet to see a Nitto owner go back to a set of BFGs so far but plenty of BFGs owners have nothing but good things to say about the Nittos after the switch.
for the $$$ they are hard to beat when compared to a pricier BFG.
Hmmm, count me as one of your former Nitto owner who won't be going back to Nittos TG. I thought that i mentioned this to you on multiple times in the past...you forgot?
Personally, i think that Nittos are a good buy, but there are other tires in it's price range that are just as good (e.g. Yokohama Geolander AT-S).
Nittos
may be better than BFG AT KO on-road (even though there is no official data), i wonder why Josh thinks that it will be better in snow?? I dislike the Nittos due to it's road noise and thin sidewall width. I really dislike the howling/humming noise that the Nittos made at highway speed. None of the other AT's i had made such an annoyance (e.g. Michelin LTX M/S, REVOs, Michelin LTX A/T, Bridgestone Dueler H/L, and BFG AT KO).
I finally figured out...the Nittos sidewall is very similar to the Michelin LTX A/T-2...so, it is not any thinner than your average highway tire, but it does not compare to the BFG. I checked out the Michelin earlier this week. The sidewall is flexible and relatively thin. I had BFG AT KO right next to it and were able to measure the thickness of sidewall with my fingers...it was no comparison. The Michelin sidewall reminded me very much of the Nittos i had before.
And i have NEVER seen BFG AT KO sidewall look like this picture of pure carnage:
This is what happens when you take Nittos rockcrawling.
