BFG KO2 Specific Question

I ran them for a very short period of time but had zero vibration issues. I ran them in 285/70/17 and the perfect pressure was 34 PSI Mine were E rated also. The problem is very likely not the tires. Either incorrect balance, loose lug nuts, over inflated, under inflated, there's more to this story.

Thanks. Ill measure them in the morning. Called my tire shop i bought them from, he wants mentomcone by on Monday. Still waiting for him to program my damn tpms sensors too.

Can you be more specific? When you say bounce it implies that the tires are reacting to bumps. If you're getting wheel hop, which for lack of a better word is something induced by the tire or rim at specific speeds, your wheel is most likely out of balance. Could be as simple as a thrown wheel weight. I suggest going back to the tire shop and having them re-balanced.

I just got them, and they were fine in city driving. I would hear a “wub wub” sound but there was no shake or shimmy in the wheel. I would feel a vibration , but only when at speeds over 50mph. At 65, i could hear the damn vibration in my voice when i spoke, i could see the hood vibrating, sometimes it would only vibrate after i took my foot off the gas. So, driving to the cape w the new baby was a tough ride.

OK mister literal lol. Not an issue with the tires as in the build of the tires. More an issue of install or an issue with inflation. Not an issue with build quality.

First thing ill do today is check all the lugs. Make sure theyre tight. Then the pressure, still looking for a concensus on what PSI i should keep them at.

I love my KO2's, never had any issues at all. They ride smooth as silk and are extremely quiet down the road, I honestly can't hear them at all. I have 10,000 miles on them know.

I personally would never run load range E. I run C's and keep them at 40 psi max.

I had similar problems with KOs on my old Tacoma. Had Discount rebalance 3 times and finally swapped for a different brand of tires.

I recently traded a 2017 Taco for a 2017 4Runner. When I put the 265 KO2s on the Taco, I had a weird vibration type bounce at around 40mph. They rebalanced a few times and after me throwing a fit at the installer, they finally pulled the tires off and inspected them. One of the tires was not trued and BF replaced it.

Put them back on the Taco and they are now on the 4Runner and have been perfect.

my dad had 2 out of round on his tundra.

right now wife has a similar issue with her 4runner, i'm hoping its a balance issue and it can be fixed. otherwise new llantas!

After going out and measuring the insulation, they were all above 70 psi! One of them was at 77 psi!

I brought them down to 38 psi.

I only ran them for about 200 miles. Do you think that over inflation of the tires running them for that amount could have done any damage? Besides *****ing to the tire shop, do you think I should have concerns besides the idiot that put them on?

They will be fine. But having dealt with idiots at tire shops, assuming the same tech balanced them that put air in, you may want to have the balance checked again.

I wouldn't worry too much about 200 miles, but yes it did wear them unevenly

38psi is a little low for E range KO2s

The aggressive tread wouldnt cause the up and down jiggle?

I wouldn't call KO2's aggressive tread. They just need better balancing. There should be zero "up and down jiggle"

You could also have a bad one........

The tech that handled it today wasnt the same Chudmunch that put them on. He took me aside and said he rebalanced all of then and that the passenger rear might still have a jiggle cuz it might have a defect.

I go back wednesday to have the tpms sensors set to the same codes as my stock wheels so incan switch them out when the winter is over here in Boston.

You guys think i should ask for a new one? New set? Just never return?

How much weight do you have on each wheel for balance? If its excessive, like a 1lb, I'd say its a bad tire.

I dunno. Ill look on the inside of the rim and see what they tacked on.

Took it for a ride on the Hw and at 50mph, the steering wheel has a shimmy.

If you are getting a shimmy and everything else is good, your tires are most likely out of balance. Try to watch them get balanced, when the tire is spinning on a balancer, its easy to see how out of round they are as well.

Well, I just went back for them to use their updated snap-on software (that he *****ed about being $500 to update) in order to get the TPMS sensors "woken up" and my dash light off, and "due to insurance reasons, I am not allowed near the bay" and they closed to door, so I couldn't see the balancing being done.

When I go to my dealership for the next service, i'll ask them to do it.
