Got some BFG KO2's in stock size, C rated. Having a hell of an issue balancing them. Took them to Discount Tire 4 times after install, still getting vibration at 65-70. Not terrible but enough to annoy. I've gotten an alignment and never had an issue with the bridgestone dueler evo 2's, E rated LT's...so I don't think its a suspension/alignment/any other issue. Did a road force balancing the last time at Discount and they said all tires were in spec (not out of round). Anyone else have issues with KO2's balancing? Suggestions?

Just installed a set of KO2s 275/70/17s E rated last Saturday and on Sunday I noticed a balancing issue/ vibration at 58 mph. Took it back to the shop on Monday, apparently the balancing weights are now applied to the wheel with some unknown adhesive and a few of the weights on my front right wheel came off. Shop re applied the weights and a week later no further issue. So far the KO2s ride smooth and no road noise- still need to test them on the trail though.

I also have a slight balance issue with the KO2's on my 4th gen (265/70/17 LR C). I have them mounted on the OEM wheels from my '14 TE. There was no previous balancing issue with those wheels or my 4th gen. I have taken them back 3 times now, with the last time using Road Force. Just like you stated, it's not an extreme issue but it's there and it's annoying. I'm not entirely surprised though. I'm a fan of the BFG AT and I've ran quite a few sets over the years but I've had balancing issues with them (KO's) before. Even with the past balancing issues, I still like using these tires because I usually get a lot of miles out of them and they seem to work very good in any terrain.

Everyone has problems balancing Toyota 6 lug wheels. Lots of places don't have the right size cones for the center bore and the rack and pinion is very good at transmitting any imperfection into the steering wheel.

My 275 load range E have been fine. They were mounted and balanced at the Toyota dealer.
I have the Nitto's on my TRDP and have had it alined and rebalanced twice. every re-balance it gets better but still an annoying vibration at 60-65. Next is a road force balance.
Glad to see im not the only one with vibration issues, I was beginning to think something was wrong with the front suspension

Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll hit another Discount and have them balance again (sigh). If it doesn't get better then I dont know....maybe I'll take it to a dealership and let them have a try (and pay for it). The other option is to see if Discount will take them back...not sure how that will go over. Maybe try some Cooper Tires at that point.

Lol a set of BFG tires with Balancing issues. Who'd have thought?
I would imagine if you get them road force balanced you will lessen the weight needed substantially. If that doesn't work, sounds like the tire is out of round.
EDIT: need to up my reading comprehension. Didn't see discount already "ruled" this stuff out. I'd try a different tire shop

I had to go back to discount 5x for my last setup and finally they sent me to another store to get them balanced. 30 min later I was GTG.

Same with mine except I had Costco do the mount and balance. No issues so far with about 3k on them. Just had the dealer rotate my tires. I'm heading out tomorrow for a couple hundred miles, so we will see if anything new pops up.
So quick update. I went back to Discount again, has to be the 5th or 6th time and talked to the store manager. He had his best tech familiar with toyotas do the balancing this time. He finds out that the other techs were using a generic balancing cone and not the toyota cone. Something about the wheel being slightly off center using the generic cone. So, they use the Toyota cone this time and the BFG KO2's are finally balanced! Thank god. The manager rightfully admits to me that their techs need to be trained better when it comes to using the toyota cone. Make sure everyone specifically asks for a the Toyota cone when you go to discount tire/non-dealer tire shop. Makes a world of difference.

I had mine installed at a local shop and they couldn't get it to balance, took it to toyota and they did the 10K service and I asked them to balance the tires. Rides perfect, they also said it was under 12,000 miles so there was no cost to balance. They either didn't notice, or didn't care that they weren't the tires that came on it.

Same here, 'cept mine are 285's. Not an issue at all with the balancing on my KO2's. The same shop, Discount Tire, has been balancing the KM2 tires on my FJ & Tundra for a few years. Never an issue.

I am so glad that I am not the only one with an issue after switching to the BFG KO2s. I had them installed by America's Tire, it felt fine for a while, then I started noticing a slight pull to the right. Had them redone at Big-O, it was great, still slight pull to the right. Just went in to the Toyota dealer and had my tires rotated and again... slight right pull.
So what I am asking is, is this more than an alignment issue?

If you had them rotated and your still having the same issue, it sounds more like an alignment problem. Your also going to get a slight pull to the right. Roads normally lean that way for water run off and if you fall asleep at the wheel you won't go into head in traffic.

My KO2 tires drive/handle/track pretty much the same as my stock 20' tires and wheels. I switch back and forth occasionally and other than lower gas mileage and slightly less power with the KO2 tires everything is identical.
