Bicycle racks?

I put the left rear seat down and roll it in rear wheel first. I have removed the rear center head restraint and draped a a towel over the rear center seat for it to lean on. I have no third row seat or roll out tray. The bike is a light road bike. I like to keep it inside the vehicle to keep it protected.

The sad part of it is that its hard to have nice things here

Must be nice to live that close to a trail.

if i drive to the local trailhead there's a good chance my truck could be busted into, busted windows, stolen or have the cat sawed out while im riding. Last time i parked by 3rd gen in oakland some one keyed the entire side of the truck causing 1k in paint damage.

So i ride or ride/bus to the trailhead instead. Working on a relocation...

All the trailheads near me are known for vandals. All the parking lots are littered with broken auto glass and mine has been broken into. I now park away from the lots and take a short ride in.

Thats unfortunate. I haven't had these problems at the trails I ride although I'm sure it isn't altogether immune to that type of behavior.

That was a problem at a couple of the trails in Charlotte when I lived there. I hate that but you've got it figured out. We did the same thing. We got permission from businesses close by. Then we'd give them business (whatever it was) and they'd watch out for the A-holes breaking in out stuff. Worked out ok, but eventually we just rode other places.

Hitch mount Yakima Hold Up 2. Fold down trays hold the bikes, can be expanded to hold 4 bikes, best to fit bikes of different sizes because arms clamp on top of bike tires. Also includes lock cable and locks to hitch mount for security. Doesn't interfere with back door access. Has worked great for me and all my bikes.

Thule T2

I've used a Thule T2 for several years now, on a few different kind of vehicles. In fact, I have 2. Any kind of hitch mount carrier is best IMO, especially if you rife a lot. If you don't have a bunch of crap on the back of your rig, they work great. I had to bump mine out about a foot to clear everything and if you're camping, you have to unload the bikes to unpack. Besides that, I still prefer them over roof racks.

bike rack

I have a Rocky Mounts Monorail platform rack. Vey nice and secure Right now you can buy it at autoanything, com for $244.95. Great price. It is a 2 bike platform rack. But my favorite rack is the Kuat Beta 2 bike hitch rack. Very light only 11 lbs and does not sway. It is a hanging rack. I have had many racks and those are my favorites.

When did you order yours? I ordered mine the end of April so should get it sometime in June. What do you think of it so far?

I ordered it in Feb. Yours should coming in the next couple of weeks. I really like it a lot! Super easy to use and holds bikes securely.
