Forward: I know what I'm doing procedure wise, but I didn't pay attention in physics class regarding electrical currents.
Is my wiring for my upcoming big 3 mod ok? Or is this a safety hazard?
I got my battery cables and copper lugs from my local West Marine. I crimped them in the store at their nice station which made things super easy. I then came home and melted solder in the crimped lugs with my torch, to insure a great connection.
Only (possible?) problem is, (and not realized until after it was all said and done), is that I kinda torched some of the rubber near a few ends of crimped lugs due to poor torching/soldering skills.
So I used a razor blade to cut back the ends of insulation that I did manage to crisp up. I then covered with heat shrink. I plan on further covering with wire loom and more electrical tape and zip ties and so on.
Question: Is the gap between the end of the lug, and the end of the rubber insulation of the wire too large and a fire hazard? Again....I didn't pay attention in physics and I regret it. The attached photo is the largest "gap" of any of my big 3 wires, somewhere between 1/4 and 1/2 an inch.
Should I cut the lugs off and re-solder new ones on being mindful to keep the end of the lug as close to the original wiring insulation?
Am I stoned and overthinking?
