Big Bear Snow run this Sat (1/9)?

Can anyone interested in leading a snow run near big bear this sat?

Or

Can you suggest an easy trail near or around big bear? I just want to drive on the snow.

Holcomb Valley trail. Go to the Discovery Center in Fawnskin, follow the map. Very interesting, easy trails. Probably good with 2wd and chains.

I went when it was cold and damp, no snow, but easy enough.

Be advised that the trip up the hill could be an hours-long traffic jam.

Maybe a trip up 1N09 from 7 Oaks would avoid the traffic nightmare.

Should be plenty of powder after this week, but like previously said, it's going to be a nightmare on a weekend to get up there.

I plan to be leave at 6am.

What do you think about this? 3N16 most of the way then head south on Coxey Rd and Rim of the World Rd.

I have 4x4 and duratracs. I will be carrying chains.

That's the trip I did last time (minus the holcomb valley loop). you can shoot at a couple places by big pine flats. 3N16 was easy going. there was one water crossing, a foot or two deep, not a big deal. it should be extra beautiful with snow.

no, we went from the discovery center, through the holcomb valley loop, to big pine flats, to the 18 at deep creek.

dirtopia has decent info on those roads as I recall, as does the forest service http://www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/sbnf/alerts-notices

One thing to worry about is going to be closed gates, especially with the amount of snow they're expecting up there. When we did Crab Flats a few weeks ago GVL was telling us a lot of the gates are closed now.
