Not really. Ive never looked into the 1JZ. All ive heard about them is they are almost the same but rev higher. I really dont care about the higher revs, its not like im going to be drifting in my 4runner or anything.

Not sure why people hate on higher revs so much, but in any case the reason I suggested 1JZ was that they are usually about 1/2 the price.

I am starting to wonder if the swap would be any different between the 1JZ and 2JZ...

Screw it, I'm Just going to buy a 300zx and probably sell the 4runner. An engine swap wouldnt be worth it on this 20 year old suv.

What does the age of the vehicle matter? Unless you're planning on selling it as soon as you finish. I'd be less inclined to do a swap on a newer vehicle, destroying it's resale value in the process. I'm willing to bet a JZ swapped 3rd gen would fetch 10-13k in decent condition.
However, this truck will never be a sport's car. I suggest an eco box DD (I'm partial to TDI's) and then keep this as your fun, modding vehicle. The VW's are every bit as fun to drive as a 300zx and get amazing mileage.
