Biggest lift for 4th Generation?

Does anyone know what the biggest lift you can get for a 4th Generation T4R is and where you can get it? I heard someone say that there is a 7in lift.

The most I have heard of as a 3" suspension plus 2" body lift. Anything over 3" suspension and you have to make some major modifications to maintain driveline angles and strengthen the driveline itself to handle the massive weight of the tires/wheels needed to fill that lift.

You building a monster truck?

You are right. You can have 7" lift.
The trick is the following: adopt 6" FJ Cruiser bracket lift with some minor changes and add 1.5" 4Crawler body lift. FJ is lighter, that's why you'll get something around 5"-5.5" of lift. 1.5" body lift is the maximum body lift you can go. Total is 6.5"-7" of lift. But be aware that you'd have to cut crossmember and this will void the warranty.
This will be more of lift for the look. More practical off-road lift is 3" suspension and 1.5" body lift, which will total to 4.5".

Alex,

Is there a write up somewhere about this bracket lift? I'd be interested to learn more.

Here are some pics from a site on the internet...

Don't bracket kits just drop down all your stock suspension?
From what I understand (at least on tacomas) you can take a 6" fabtech kit, add 2.5-3" the regular way (spacers, OME or coilovers) and achieve about 8-9" of lift. A 1.5 BL on top of that would get you up to 10.5" of lift.

Of course you'd need to figure out a way to get 8+ inches of lift in the rear, custom links (maybe even altered bracket locations) and a new driveshaft, maybe even gas tank/crossmember mods based on clearance.

NO NO NO NO NO ... do NOT copy that. That was one of Nitrous Enterprise's 4Runners and the setup is incredibly DANGEROUS. If you want to read more, do a yahoo search. Otherwise, avoid them and copying their ideas at ALL COSTS.

Are you saying using a bracket lift is dangerous or Nitrous Ent is dangerous? I think we all know to avoid NE.

I can't say much about the bracket lift since it doesn't do anything for suspension travel or off-roading .... but I can say that what they did on that 4Runner was a bad idea. It wasn't just the bracket lift, it was also badly made spacers on top of it, tires that are too heavy/big to run on that set up without further modification, etc.

Tracy, are you saying that that truck has Fabtech brackets AND NE lift?

Actually it's not true. Bracket lift like Fabtech or ProComp for FJ cruiser drops the diff 4" and spacer original struts down 6". This means that their kit has 4" diff drop + 2" suspension lift. Adding OME struts will require a new custom made spacers, because OME is 3" lift; coilovers like Donajoe racing will work better because you can crank them at desire height. But even after it you'll have 4"diff drop + 3" suspension lift (CV wouldn't let you do much more) = 7". 1.5" body lift will get you to 8.5".
BUT I don't know how all this will perform in a daily driver or off-road, may be it will be too much and dangerous.

Yeah, they had a combination of both, along with the rear shock relocators which eventually caused a few of us to lose our XREAS systems.

I know some of the NE stuff looks cool, but in reality it was all dangerous and should not be copied.

Who knows, maybe some day there will be a solution that will allow us to run more than ~4" safely, but the idea won't come from NE.

Also, taking the CV angles and everything into account, we're better off with the current amounts of height our lifts give us, both on and off road. :)
