Bike Rack Recommendations

I saw the north shore someone had when I went up to winter park, those things are sweet. He showed me how it worked and all, and that is what I'm saving up to get

Same thing happened to me with my across the street neighbour last year. I was headed out for a ride with my bike on the North Shore rack. I ended up showing him how you can tilt the whole rack c/w bike(s) on it to access the rear hatch. A week later he had one installed on his vehicle... haha. :)

Dug up some photos of the North Shore rack on the 4Runner...

One thing with this style of rack is that the bikes stick out the same amount, whether you have 1 bike on there or 4.

When folded up, it's tall enough that you can see the "uprights" out the back window, to judge how far away you are from things!

Yakima holdup

Thule t2

Kuat Nv

These 4 are the top of the line carriers. Everyone has their opinions but I like 1up the best. aluminum and USA made.

The Kuat NV looks real nice. thanks for posting this list. Helped me narrow down to what I need too. The Kuat NV is definitely getting ordered soon ;-)

just snagged a brand new KUAT NV 2.0 for $356 w/ free 2 day shipping from backcountry... rei is retailing them at $629... so if you're on the fence... jump

If money was no option I probably would have gone 1up or northshore but I was on a limited budget so wanted to get a decent rack for my buck. I ended up with the Hollywood Sport Rider HR1400. 1 season in and no issues. I am very happy with the rack. More pleased than I thought I would be. I've recommended it to other biking friends. One of my requirements was a rack that could be used as a 2 bike or 4 bike as I don't always want the bulk of the full rack if it's just the wife and I. I got the rack for $380 shipped.

If you are a power lifter you can go with this option.

But my back hurts every time i lift it.
