Billy 5100 @ 1.75" + Moog Front FJ Coils = 4" .... Why? How much will it settle?

Got the 5100's put in today. Front w/ 5100's @ 1.75 + Moog 81108
Rear has 5th gen springs w/ Daystar 1.5's.

All the springs/coils are brand new. The buckets were installed correctly (not upside down).

Heights:

Before:
Front: Driver 33 1/8" , Pass 33"
Rear: Driver 35 3/8", Pass 35 5/8"

After:
Front: Driver 37", Pass 37 1/8"
Rear: Driver 37 5/8", Pass 37 3/4"


I'm real worried about the CV's and have trouble believing the front will settle a whole inch. Sounds like I should have done .85 ??

I was expecting based on others experience to gain 2.75" at the most up front.

I assume my dumb*** didn't realize this coil is heavier than the stock fj ????

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

You will settle some. 1/2" would be great. I like about 1" difference front to rear. I think it looks good.

Cv angles should be good.

I am debating moving down to .85. I only have 10 miles on it, getting the alignment tomorrow.

I have the 5100's at 1.75" and Moog FJCs, with similar results. Your before numbers seemed to have been lower than mine, as mine were 34 something". So if you had a new set of oems, you'd probably see a gain of what it should be, about ~2.75" (1.75" + 1.xx" moogs).

From my experience, my suspension settled about 0.5". I didn't max out my UCA, but had little adjustment to spare, but YMMV..

It'll be fine. My "3 inch" lift gained at least 5 inches from my saggy worn out shocks and springs. So it's a "restore to stock +3 inches" kind of measurement. Once you get high enough to get into CV binding issues at full droop is where you'll have to worry but 5100's without top plate spacers aren't long enough to cause CV binding no matter how high you put the spring perch.

Aftermarket lift #'s and guesstimates are based off of good factory suspension. Yours may have been really worn and sagging. Your over thinking it.

That setup is actually perfect. Now you just need some larger tires and remove the step and itl be in business.

New tires in a few months, running boards may be staying as I am short (but would love to find some sport runners)

the alignment came out great, I will measure this afternoon, doesn't look like much has settled out, prob only 50 miles on em so far

How are the springs / shocks working out for you? I am having an incredibly hard time finding some good condition rear FJ springs and may just do the 5th gen route like you,

Sorry for the delay on getting back to this thread. The 5th gen rear springs have been great (make sure they have the extra coil over the 4th gen). They gave about 1/2" lift beyond the 1.5" spacer (have probably settled some). They paired real nice with the moog fj front springs. This combo is extremely cost effective too as 5th gen rears are super cheap.

I haven't measured recently but I added 255/75/r17 mud terrains (jeep take offs are also super cheap). The rig drives way better than when I purchased it, looks great, and handles great. I have 1" rake, which is exactly what I was looking for.
