Bilstein 5100 Availability

Thanks. So I wonder what you are getting through Toytec then...

thelouv, do you know what you ordered through Toytec? What part numbers for the front?

Will call Toytec tomorrow to confirm that these are okay given what was posted as quoted from 4Wheel parts. Stiffer could be good in my case, but don't want to bottom out. Perhaps a bottom could only be reached when on the shortest setting? Gotta remember, 4WP was where had I first ordered a couple months ago and recently updated the expected ship date to late Aug. Have to trust what Toytec tells me given their reputation.

Although keep in mind that the other part number is what is posted in Bilstein's catalog.

I emailed Wheeler's yesterday to check the back order and they mentioned "still a few weeks". I'm not in enough of a rush to cancel and order from somewhere else.

Called Toytec, we discussed it, I am comfortable with what I received given my needs.

what did they say? i'm ready to order mine now and i'm unsure what to go with.. i'm wondering if toytec is giving the 186711) over the other cuz it's all that's left in stock and they wanna make a sale.. or whether they truly are whats made for it (186711).. i'm assuming the part number is higher on the shock that is apparently supposed to be for the front(196499) so i'm assuming it's an updated shock?

looking it over again.. i'm gonna go for the 196499 up front and the 187174 in the rear.. i'm seeing if toytec will match 4wheelparts price. and if its backordered i'll just wait until they have it in stock

The one toytec has in stock is the one that was for the 4runners before 2010.
Many have used them for the 2010 4runners before the new bilsteins were released without issue. I'm pretty sure it is the shock that toytec has been using on the ultimate lift which several people are running.

I may call toytec tomorrow too about the old ones. No one even has an eta on the 2010+ bilsteins. I have all the components ready for my lift except those front shocks...

FWIW, my local suspension shop cannot find ANY front 5100s for my 2014 & he tried several of his primary suppliers. The suppliers all said "maybe August, who knows?"

Not what I wanted to hear.

I called Bilstein in NC and spoke with a friendly gentlemen at length about this unfamiliar part #. Yes, it is based on the 5100 and made for the 5th gen. It is a proprietary part # that a vendor specifically ordered custom. When asked about the difference between it and a regular 5100, he confirmed the compression was the same and the rebound was 13% less than the true 5100.

After installing a couple of weeks ago, I am very satisfied.

I just bought the 24-186711 bilsteins. Got tired of waiting on the others.
I know this model was installed by everyone from 2010-2012 and have not heard of anyone having problems with them.

Those other posts pretty much answered your question. But to summarize, they said with their experience of grouping together lift components specifically for our trucks, this is the shock they find suitable. Really a summary there. Also the rating of this shock compared to the other mythical one has better potential to improve the nose dive that I am looking to somewhat reduce. Always helps me to call and actually speak to someone who has experience in what I am going for.

Not sure what happened to my post that 2011Yota was responding to, I must have fat fingered the Ipad or something and deleted it instead of editing. Anyway, my 5100's arrived today (part #24-196499) and I was told at last update that it would be October before they would get here, so I'm pretty happy! Just thought I'd share it since I know a number of us have been waiting to get them, and it looks like Bilstein is finally shipping now.
