Bilstein 5100 Availability

I had a 2005 nissan titan up until last week (traded in for a '14 4runner and happy about it). The bilsteins were on backorder for the titan for months and I waited forever for them. Was completely unimpressed with the quality as I went through 2 pairs in less than 20,000 miles with ZERO offroading. Their warranty is misleading and even after they admitted defective workmanship would not send a new pair until I paid to uninstall the defective shocks, send them back and wait for processing a new order. All told, my truck sat parked for 3 weeks while this was being worked out and after them admitting it was workmanship defect would not pay to install the new ones - I was ok with paying the initial install, but I had to pay the shop to remove the defective shocks and then pay them again to reinstall the new ones. 3 intsallation charges later I finally had shocks to use that cost an arm and a leg. 18,000 miles later there was oil dripping out of the drivers side. Replaced with monroes and never had another problem

That's odd. Based on the what I've read regarding the experience of others here with the shock, they appear to be a decent product. About to put 4 on my '14 Trail, and hope the experience will be better than yours.
 
Just received 5100s for my 2011 LE. Can anyone point me to a thread for removing the xreas shocks and struts? Toy tech said there is a way of removing them with out draining everything but I was wondering if there is some sort of guidance on how to deal with the xreas system. Thx.
 
There is a disconnect on the strut/shock body. Do not disconnect that one. A little further down the line is a second one. Disconnect that one. There may be a drop of fluid that come out.

Thanks, so the system will stay charged and I can leave all of the lines and reserviors in place?

Yes, and also all 4 wheels have to be in the air when you disconnect the hydraulic lines at the frame,not the shock as 2011YOTA stated. There are check valves there .
 
I ordered 5100s from 4wheelparts.com last week, I received a call 4 days later and was told they did not have them in stock, and it would be a month. He said that Bilstein moved their factory and it took longer than expected, their price was 311 for a set of 4. I just checked auto anything and they show them in stock, I ordered them, it was 336 shipping included. they have an estimated ship date of 10-13.

Thanks for the tip to lift all four corners. This may be my Sunday project this weekend.
 
Love them! a week or 2 after i got them i went and installed them in my garage after sourcing a sweet strut compressor like i used when i was working at toyota. and voila!

I'm interested in knowing if you received the front 5100s.

This is not a new situation on these forums... I ordered a set of 4 5100's from autoanything back in mid-September because they had a good price and showed them all as being in stock. They shipped the rears in a week's time, but the fronts are no-shows. They're now giving me a projected dated of mid-December :frusty:, and they're blaming Bilstein. autoanything also claims they've recently changed their site to check/reflect what their warehouses actually have. I'm not happy that they showed them "in stock" when they didn't. That's crap. And they take your money up front even if they don't have the item. That's crappier.

What I've learned is 2 things... 1. Bilstein is pathetic in keeping up with demand for a popular product, and 2. Place orders by phone, not by website, so real stock status can hopefully be obtained.
 
Bilstein 5100 stock update

Just made some inquiries today for front adjustable 5100s #24-196499.

Called ShockWarehouse, and they confirmed they have a few in stock.

Also just received email from Wheelers, and they say they "have plenty in stock and ready to go".

After Bilstein is done with their building and assembly line changes, apparently they will no longer have these persistent back orders. :thumb3:

Bilstein 5100 Rears: 33-230320 Shock Length 24.5”

would these work? I have them on my older pathfinder but they are not coilovers and just have the eyelets... the ride is pretty stiff actually...

Probably going to leave them on the pathy...
 
I had the same issues with the front 5100s shocks. ORW (San Marcos) told me there were backordered from Bilstein and the ETA was really vague from them. ORW made a few calls to some suppliers and were able to locate me a pair. I noticed that once I made a deposit, they took me seriously and did their best to locate me a pair.

FYI, love the shocks. :fro:
 
yes, I have 2 front and 2 rear. haven't had a chance to have them installed yet, I am in Laurel, I found a shop nearby but I haven't been able to get over there.

Just wanted to help anyone looking for the 5100 front shocks right now. I spent all day calling/emailing and the only folks with them in stock is Wheelers. Everybody else is at the mercy of Bilstein, which I've been told will be mid December at the earliest.
 
Yep whatta Beeech ordered some on CaRid & said would ship n 2 , then next day back-order till 28th nov. best price though 323$ & thats shipped but oh well !
