Bilstein 5100 Questions

Bought a set of 5100’s for all 4 corners. Trying to decide on front lift settings and how much spacer I need for the rear. Would like to go 2.5” but was wondering if I would be able to achieve a decent alignment without getting UCA’s? If not, would 1.75” be enough to clear 285/70r17’s and not need UCAs? For the rear I was going to go with 1.5” spacers. Anyone know how level the truck would be at 2.5” front and 1.5” spacers in the rear and would the spacers also clear the 285/70’s? On the tire chart in the sticky the 285/70r17 are yellow indicating they should fit with slight modification so I’m thinking the 2.5/1.5 should suffice, but what if I had to go 1.75/1” to achieve an acceptable alignment? Trying to avoid having to buy upper control arms at this time.

This is one of those questions that has been hashed over ad nauseam in previous threads -- do a quick search and you'll find thousands of results to pore over.

That said, I'll offer my experience: with around a 2.5" front lift on Toytec Ultimates (which are basically just Bilstein 5100s with threaded collars), I did not feel the need to go with aftermarket UCAs. A good alignment tech was able to extract about 2.5º caster on each side, and it's enough that I don't notice any instability or tendency to wander. Of course, your mileage may vary.

Clearing 285 tires is more about modding fenderwell liners and mudflaps than it is about adding more lift.

Thanks, apparently my searching on Tapatalk was completely insufficient. As you noted, it seems there are hundreds of pages worth of information on this topic already out there. After reading everything I could over the last hour I think I will go with 2.5" front and 1.5" daystars for the rear and 275/70/17 on tires.

You tried, but Tapatalk sucks for searches. I always have to go around it and use Google so people don’t flame me.

The replies in this thread were way to adult like. I was going to just start flaming and hating but, like, whatever....

Thanks, for the links, saved me the searching for just about the same question :grouphug:

Is it done yet? And pictures?

All done, just waiting on my tires and wheels to arrive now. Here’s a before and after.

The bilstein's are soo much better than the stock shocks. I only got them in the rear of our 4Runner, but added the Toytec 2.0 Superflex springs. Much better! Now to just get some Bilstein's up front to get rid of the nose dive.
