Bilstein 5160 Discontinued for 5th gen?

Hi guys,
New here. This site has been a great resource and I want to say thanks for all the help your posts have been. I have just discovered that bilstein is not making a remote reservoir shock for the 5th gen anymore. My concerns are that from what most of you have said, the 5100 doesnt seem to ride as good as the 5160. And I happen to own "1" 5160 shock. Apparently I purchased the last 5160 in the world because I can not find another one.

I have 5100 adjustables for the front so am wondering if I should try and send the 1 i have back or hold onto it hoping that I can find another one. Is there a new shock for the rear rides better than the original 5100? Thanks in advance guys.

But you may want to ask yourself why they are discontinuing them. I've actually heard from one member that he's gone through like 3 5160's already because they are prone to failure.

Shock warehouse does not have the 5160. I talked to them already. I heard that they are not supplying them anymore because toyota is supposedly buying all of them for the new trd 4runner. But I have been told that they take more maintenance which i am not excited about so I will investigate the 5100 more. Thanks

I broke one too, snapped the threads right off the top where they meet the shock body.

broken one has long since been replaced, so I have a working pair again. although, I will be upgrading to a 2.5 radflo setup before too long

I'm surprised to hear that members have been having issues w/ these shocks. I've got close to 10K on mine and I've had zero issues. Even after towing my boat long distances and off-roading. The fancy new TRD 4RUNNER will be equipped with these, so if anything I'm sure they'll be available thru Toyota.
