Bilstein 60mm BTS System

The suspense is killing me!
I used to hear it from an coworker that getting stuff in the states is much cheaper, he would stock up on all kinds of stuff when he was consulting down here. That just sucks!

IAmTodd why do you have doubts about the extra weight with the winch/bumper?

It was mentioned somewhere later in the thread that this would be for standard weight only. Start tossing on a few hundred pounds on the front and it will sag considerably.

I must have missed that!
If that's the case, this rules out the 6112's! :(

I have an RCI front skid and some sliders and I'm on my third set stock shocks being replaced. IDK if the extra weight has anything to do with it but if that's the case, I need another option than these .

I'm in the same boat, I have sliders, skids waiting to go on, and hopes of a bumper. If these had a threaded body I'd be GTG.

Would anyone have an idea how the 6112's would rate against a set of fox coilovers in regards to load limit.

Might want to post your questions to Chas here TotalAutomotiveLV to get some definite info in regards to this issue on this particular setup!

Blah sorry guys, had thought I send the whole reply on my tablet.

So Bilstein will be shipping the tundra coilovers to dealers end of next week, then the following week will be the 2010+ 4runner / fj kits. Tacoma is right behind that, then the 03-09 runners will be up.

We should be posting all the GB info Monday :cheer2:

I am in Southwest Vegas and have a brand new 2015 Trail with KDSS with under 100 miles on it. In the off chance you are looking for guinea pig, let me know. :pray2:

how would the 6112 and 5160 combo compare to the Icon stage 1 or the toytec Boss other than the 0.5" lift difference?

http://cart.bilsteinus.com/pdfs/off-road.pdf

I came on this board with no intentions of lifting my 4runner since I will be mostly hwy driven for work, but spending time on the board and seeing all the lifted threads, has given me the itch and consider lifting mine for some moderate off road fun capability.

Hard to compare since we don't have trucks with the 6112s on them at this point, However, the toytec boss and icon stage one are both fairly comparable in terms of handling and ride comfort. The 5100/eibach spring combo is slightly stiffer but still rides very well. The biggest advantage to the systems you listed is adjustability due to the threaded shock bodies.

so the Icon and Toytec are threaded giving you more adjustability verses the Bilstein, which has snap rings, which only gives you 1" increment adjustments?

For those that have threaded shock bodies, how often are people adjusting them once they install the lift? I would guess they set it at the max height and probably don't touch it

If they settle, or you add weight after your lift you can adjust to compensate. That's the main reason I wanted a threaded option.

For me I'd like to have a dual use setup. I'm trying to sort out the best way to achieve both stock ish daily driving and clearance for larger tires for the 2-3 weeks a year I get to spend in the backcountry - usually a week at a time. My ideal setup is adjustable to drop down for 90% of the time and jump up to 2-3" lift for a week that is as easy as possible. I'm thinking air cups front and air bags rear, but I haven't completely decided which route to go right now. Adjustable coils are easy enough to move for my type of use. I usually spend half a day packing, adding the roof rack, etc anyway. If I can adjust the coils, toss on a set of 34" Iroks, and go, I'll be happy.

I have a dedicated trail rig which i use for weekend stuff, but it's an FJ40 and it's not big enough to be practical for a week in the back country.

i see you have the toytec lift. What was the 1.5" spacers in the rear for?

The spacers were because I have not completely decided What I'm doing in the rear yet. I'd rather purchase $40 spacers and toss them in a year or two if I get a bumper, than buy springs now and have to replace them with heavier ones. They are basically a place holder while I make up my mind.

Though I am slightly regretting my coilovers, I just tried to adjust them and it's a PITA.

Where is the group buy on these we have been waiting patiently. And just a small bit of feedback with the tap website could you please post the price on your items in your website. I hate having to call to get pricing on product. stuff like that makes me find a diffrent sight. How much are your 5160 or 5100 for the rear oh yeah I have to call. Boooooo. Really I am just excited to be able to get these. I am in sales my self and people aren't going to buy if they don't know the prices. Just trying to help you out.

He has already stated that Bilstein doesn't start shipping for the 5th gen until next week. My guess is he won't have pricing or start a group buy until he has them in stock.

I think he will begin the GB pricing as soon as all his info is firm and he has received the items for said GB. I think at that point he will post some kind of discount code or some system for you to see what the prices will be.

Oh, I don't see how you are helping him out. :ohwell:

just sayin'
