Hey all, on May 1 I bought the Bilstein kit (6112/5160, B12 1" rear springs) from 4wheelparts and a Bilstein distributor in Canada. What I'm being told is that there is a back order and these parts won't be available until mid-late June. Anyone else hearing the same thing? Dammit!

Hmm, are you sure those are 1" lift springs. I am 100% there is no such thing on the Billstein website, they start at 1.5". Just saying.

You are right, that is what the Billstein site says.

I think that was not the case last time I looked...

I have not noticed the 6112s to be on backorder on the US sites.

Interesting. Perhaps they don’t say the parts are on back order until a certain number of orders are filled.

I know I’ve seen Eibach reps help out with these scenarios, specifically with the Pro lift kit, are there any Bilstein reps around?

rogueoffroad. com usually has them in stock. maybe try them and then cancel your other order after verifying stock?

btw i didnt wanna risk having leaking 5160's, the fox 2.0 non resi's ride fantastic with the front 6112's.

Thanks for the input...We get hammered here in Canada with the exchange rate and customs. I’m trying to stick with a vendor from Canada for that purpose.

Not that I know of.

Are all the parts on backorder or just one of the three?

The 6112 is very much the only game of its kind in town but Eibach offers a 1" rear spring that is also cheaper than Billstein's. As for the rear shocks, I have been told by a vendor that in addition to 5160, many 6112s are sold with 5100s or Fox 2.0 or Icon 2.0. There is also the Eibach rear pro truck shock.

Of course, if you go 5100, you will have an inferior rear shock not suitable for speed on rough terrain. I know from another forum member that even the basic Fox 2.0 is a massive improvement over the 5100 offroad (I read it has 70% more damping capability). BUT the Fox 2.0 is also reputed to be outright harsh on road on an empty vehicle unless you revalve it. The Eibach Pro Truck Sport has a couple bleed holes to make it ride better over small chop than Billstein 5100 (or 5160 or factory valved Fox 2.0) but will have the speed limitations of a 5100.

Anyway, that's what I have learned: that the 6112 is coupled with all sorts of shocks in the back, even linear ones. I am exploring 6112 with Fox 2.0 with adjusters as an option for me. I have the Eibach 1" rear spring already.

Yah I’ve been sold on the 6112/5160 for quite some time. The fact that it all comes from Bilstein (springs and shocks) was kind of my selling point.

My understanding is that the shock absorbers are all on backorder 6112 and 5160. Springs I am expecting in the coming weeks. It sucks when you’ve paid full price for something and have to wait until you’ve basically forgotten about them.

I blew one of my rear TRD PRO rear shocks today and in a frantic moment, tried to buy the 5160 shocks as a replacement. 4WP told me it was backordered as well, but I managed to find 2 available shocks at summitracing and had them expedite to me so I can get my baby moving again.

Kind of a bummer they are on back order right now :(

That's no fun.

How many miles on that shock?

I ran into this back order also. I bought a set of falcons. I’ve always had Bilstein. The falcon setup made me very happy.

How did you manage to source those shocks?

I just googled the part number and SummitRacing was one of the retailers that showed available. I called them and told me they had 2 left in the warehouse so I told them to ship it ASAP. They just arrived a few hours ago and it's the correct ones. Got lucky I guess..

It's a popular set up and I imagine bilstein only making them in small batches because I remember hearing about them last year and they were often out of stock at every authorized retailer.

Update. Received hardware 2 weeks ago. Only outstanding items are the reservoir clamps, which should be coming in the next day or so. Install scheduled for this weekend.

Does anyone have a line on a set of 6112's in stock anywhere? It's hard to tell if any online retailers have anything in stock as their sites don't list inventory, I'm assuming most drop ship from Bilstein.

I thought I lucked out last week by finding a set on eBay. The seller "shipped" them but on Friday I found that they had been delivered in New York and I live in Utah... Anyway, they are claiming that USPS "lost" them and are refunding my money. But now I have a set of 516o rears and nothing for the front.

I been looking high and low myself, no luck. I feel like I'm searching for hand sanitizer and Lysol wipes all over again!

I called Bilstein National Headquarters today to inquire as to when they anticipate the 6112's will be in stock and they advised me around mid May.

Seems that I may have to go with another option. I have a friend that is a reseller of Icon and he stated he could get stage 1 front suspension, but that the rears were backordered. Since I now have 5160's in hand, I may just go with the Icon's in the front if he can still get them.

**Edit**
well, Icon's are back ordered 11 weeks as well. :(
