Bilstein 6112 Part Number

Hi! I haven’t been on this forum for a long time. But was hoping to see whether someone has any insight on the 6112 part numbers.

I have ordered and received from Shock Surplus Bilstein 6112s assembled listed for 2007-2009 FJs with part number 47-284142. From what I’ve been reading on this forum and many other retailers’ websites, this part number includes the 650-lb springs (as opposed to the normal 600-lb) and are used on 2003-2009 4Runner and GX470. I have a 2006 4Runner V8. I know there are a couple of threads on here about the heavier rate springs paired 6112s for V8s.

However, I don’t see that number anywhere on the shocks and springs I’ve received today. I have the following:

On the shocks: 05131C 24284134
On the spring and the packaging with barcode: E4-FD1-Y005B46

I did some searches and turned up nothing for those part numbers.

I just reached out to shock surplus via email to get a call back, but does anyone have any insight on those part numbers? How can I tell these are the 650 lb springs?

650lbs 53-291387 I need to confirm on actual spring at home but I think it is E4-FD1-Z562B00. I saw that reference for 53-291387 that I ordered.

Keep in mind with a V8 I think you will yield 2.75" lift max with the 650lbs coils. I wished I could have gotten the Fox or Icon 2.5 for true 3" lift.

Hi, thanks for checking the part number you have. I may have to try to call Bilstein and see whether they can clarify.

The springs you ordered Part Number: 53-291387 - on Bilstein's website the description says they're for 80-140 lb additional front weight and the pic shows it has E4-FD1-Z562B00. Here's the url: Product Search Detail - BILSTEIN

The kit I ordered and got from Shock Surplus based on the Part Number 47-284142 - on Bilstein's website the description says they're for 150-200 lbs additional front weight and the pic shows it has E4-FD1-Y005B46. Here's the url - blow up the pic and see: Product Search Detail - BILSTEIN This is the same kit listed for 2007-2009 FJ Cruiser and 2003-2009 GX470. Shock Surplus has it listed for FJ Cruiser with Part Number 47-284142 and that's what I ordered and got. Is it just me or is this all very confusing?

Or ...... the 47-284142 with E4-FD1-Y005B46 are 700lb springs??!!

650lbs is 53-291387 E4-FD1-Z562B00 for 80-140lb additional front weight.

The 47-284142 with E4-FD1-Y005B46 is 700lbs for 150-200lb additional front weight. This is the one I got - after reading a couple of other threads from Battleborn Offroad claiming 47-284142 came with 650lb springs for 80-140lb additional front weight/V8 application. Thread here: NEW BILSTEIN 6112 HEAVY LOAD for 03-09 4Runner / FJ Cruiser. I will have to return this kit - it's for much heavier applications and valved a lot stiffer. I don't have any front additional weight except the V8.

I'm curious how your truck looks and feels. Do you have additional weight in the front other than the V8? What preload setting are you using? That part number you gave is for 600lb springs E4-FD1-Z005B50. Are you using those or you typed in the wrong part number - because you said you were running the 650lbs ones? I know these numbers give me a headache :caked: Again much appreciate your chiming in to help.

I'm coming from running 5100 all around with OME 885 (on lowest 5100 setting) and SPC UCAs in front and Toytec Superflex in the rear for the last 9-10 years? Wanting to change out the front set up.

I'm probably in minority but a true 3" lift on a 4runner is really pushing the geometry of this system. I have fox 2.5's but mine are maxed out in the lower direction which yields less then 3" lift.
I'll get flamed but I think these 4runners ride and offroad terribly when maxed out on suspension lift. I also refuse to run wheel spacers and negative offset rims.
But it's all to fit tires and for looks so...

Hi and I made a mistake. The 650lbs that I got are the Z562B00 like you confirmed with Bilstein. Sorry for the error. I still think there is enough lift for my V8 but it does help.

I made an error with the 650lb. It should be Z562B00 like you said.

Ride was much approved over and more controlled. The 600lbs seemed more soft and mushy like a stock spring but lifted. I have about 2.7" lift and clips are set at 5 of 6 (5th clip on top) on both sides. I don't have armor in the front but again I wished for maybe at least an 1/4" of lift. Ride is good but front is still raked. I attached a picture.

I made an error with the 650lb. It should be Z562B00 like you said.

I'm reviving this thread because I have a couple questions. Anyone with a V6 have the 700# springs? E4-FD1-y005B46

I just want a little extra lift in the front. as far as weight...I have true north front bumper with smitty bilt 9.5k winch and full rci skids for weight up front. Would you guys run the 700# or 650#?

It's weird because I am rubbing at places that I did not rub when I had 5100's with OME 894 springs on lowest clip.

Just wanted to share my experiences with this on a 2006 GX470 which is about the same as the V8 4runner of the same year.

I had ordered the kit for extra weight to account for the V8. The kit came with 700# springs, Part number e4-fd1-y005b46.

With 6112 set on the lowest settings #1 and #2 to account for the lean I got more lift than I wanted at almost 3" with the 700# springs.

The ride was also too stiff.

The 700# springs also limited articulation.

Another issue I had was the limited down travel with having too much lift and a spring that really wants to push the control arms down. When entering odd corners with a flat road meeting a steeper road at 90* It would reach the limit of down travel which causes that wheel to become temporarily airborne. This caused the traction control to freak out. This effect is described in this video UCA's True Functions and Misconceptions | Toyota Aftermarket UCA Part 1 - YouTube

I ended up going back to a 650# spring and on those same settings of #1 and #2 of the 6112's I got the lift I was looking for at about 2.25 inches and the ride is perfect.

Long story short is the 700# springs are way too stiff for a mostly stock V8 Toyota. The 650# springs are perfect.
