Bilstein 6112s with Heavier Springs

Anyone running 6112s with heavier springs? I'm planning on adding a aluminum front bumper + winch, second battery and ARB air compressor. Would like to maintain the 2" of lift after all of these additions and I find the Bilstein spring to be already super soft at stock weight. I think Old Man Emu 885 (Medium) or 887 (HD) may do the trick?

The other option is just to replace the coil overs completely with an OME or Toytec setup. However, I'd like to get some use out of the 6112s since they are less than a year old.

Do you know what the spring rates our currently?

My front coilers are 650lb and with the SSS hybrid bumper, winch, lights , compressor, fusebox etc etc (stock battery though) They are about perfect (IMHO - your milage may very)

Edit: I have no idea how the 6112's are valved compared to the Radflo 2.5" so the above may not be worth much

I installed my shrockworks bumper, winch and full shrockworks skid plates this month. I had to adjust my front Bilstein 5100s up to 0.85" mark (2nd clip) with my toytec 521600 to maintain my 2" lift. Without the adjustment, the front dropped down an inch after the bumper/winch install.

My springs feel a tad softer now due to the extra added weight, but that's expected.

I believe Wheelers sells stiffer springs for the 6112. There originally 600# and you can upgrade to 650# and 700#.
I have been told the OME springs will not work on the 6112.

Thanks guys, really good info here. I saw an instagram post where someone mentioned using 6112s with OME 884s. Sounds like its more of headache to try to figure this out vs. just getting new coil overs. I'm also concerned about the whole valving thing since the 6112s were designed around such a soft spring.

get the 6112s for the Tundra or Sequoia. Those are valved for a heavier vehicle and also have a higher spring rate

OME springs will not work in the front. He was probably referring to the rears.

I'd recommend going with 650# given your weight. King 14x3"ID springs will work fine.

Gonna be putting on a Shrockworks bumper in the next few months. I'm assuming it's the Eibach springs were talking about here.

I wonder how much the height settings from the manual will change with the heavy springs?

Your guess is as good as mine lol. I think Wheelers says the Eibachs lift up to 3inches if I'm reading that right on their website. I would think the lowest clip would give the 3 inches with the heavier springs?

The coils that come with the 6112's are 600# Eibach's made for Bilstein.

Just curious, I've been researching and the Eibachs come in a 14" 650lb and a 700lb coil. The 14" King coils come in just 650lbs only. I don't intend in adding a winch anytime soon. But I'd add one at some point down the line.

But with having your Shrockworks bumper, what would you recommend between the two?

Not sure where you looked, King does make a 14"x3" ID coil. Currently running them myself.

I'd opt for the 650# springs. I'm running the 700# on full weight (skids/winch/batteries/etc) and can barely get enough preload to stay under 3" lift. Just haven't gone down in weight because it helps with body roll (deleted both sways on mine).

The truck will ride a lot better with proper preload and spring weight. Go for the 650#.

I see where I went way wrong now. I was confusing the 2.5 shock diameter vs spring diameter on the King page. Totally seeing the Kings in the same amount now.
"King 3.0" coil springs are for 2.5" diameter shock bodies" I should also read better :embarassed:

But awesome, thank you for the help! I know now the stock 6112 coils are at the 600lb mark. Hoping to retain 2.5-3 inches of lift with either coil once the Shrockworks bumper goes on. Seeing all your awesome Instagram posts though and stating what you have, doesn't seem like I'd have an issue with the 650lb and just an added bumper. Thanks for your help!

I ordered my 6112 from TotalAutomotivePerformance. Came with the 600lb springs.
I ordered my 700lb (ended up being a very smooth ride at clip#2) springs off summit racing. But I think companies will actually put the heavier spring on the shock itself if you request it.

I am using eibach 16x3x600lb coils on the bottom notch, because the bilstien coil snapped in half on the 3rd notch after just 6months of daily driving. I was hoping to get less coil bind with the 16” coil on the bottom but it compressed almost 2” to get on the bottom notch, it rides smooth and firm without being harsh but its to much preload for up travel so i am looking into a custom made 15” coil or just get kings 14x3x550lb since i dont have a heavy bumper. If you look around you can find places that sell kings at different sizes and rates, eibachs offers more rate ratings.
