Bilstein 6112s with Heavier Springs

Bilstein coils

The coil snapped? or the Circlip?

The coil snapped in half, all it took was a pot hole. I am still running the 16” eibach coils and cant decide whether to try another 14” coil with lower rating so it doesnt break under preload or just get a whole new set up, looking into kings and ads shocks but not sure if i will like progressive valving for daily driving.

So I am assuming this info will work for the FJ TRD Bilstiens too? Im about to add a SSO bumper and winch. Ill also be adding a bigger battery or 2 soon too. I would like to maintain my 2" lift I have(added a 1" cornfed spacer) so I was planning on getting a heavier spring.

I’m at 22 1/4 at the front measuring from center of wheel to fender edge. I’m at the 5th clip on both sides, still have two more left for adjustment. I’m running 6112s with Eibach 700 lbs springs. CBI front steel bumper single hoop. I’m planning on installing a winch soon so I’ll probably go up one more clip. It should get me 22 3/4. My CV angles are good and it rides nice and plush when aired down to 15 when off road.

So I just ordered the 700lb eibachs for my 6112’s. I currently have the stock 600lb that come on the 6112’s. I recently added the Warn Winch mount and winch and lost some height in the front. I have a mix of aluminum steel skids on and a Gobi coming at some point. I’m also upgrading the rear Dobinsons to the 2” lift version. I currently have the 1.5” rear springs.

My big question is what clip to put the front 6112’s at with the new heavier springs. I would like little to know discernible rake. l want it level with where the back will be with the new Dobinsons springs. Based on your settings above I’m thinking the 4th clip? I don’t have a full steel bumper just the low pro type. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Anyone think they can help answer the above?

I would go to the 7th clip. Are you planning on adding a rear bumper anytime soon? At the rear from center of wheel to quarter panel I’m at 24.4 inches with Icon 2 inch springs. The Eibach springs did settle quite a bit after the first 1000 miles or so. I’m also adding a winch soon and full steel skids. I’m gonna go with the 7th clip when I adjust them again. I really want to keep the rear as light as possible. That’s why I’m also ordering a hefty fab aluminum rear bumper. I had my 150 lb coworker sit in the back and measured a 1/2 inch loss in height. With that set up it should be level from to back or barely noticeable. Hope that helps

Thank you!

I just order some eibach 700lb 14” springs for my 2005 v8 4wd sport edition. Just put on some 33” rubber on the 5th gen 20”s. With the bilstein 6112’s I have on now I am using max height adjust on both clips and also driver side: 1/2inch spacer, passenger side 1/4inch spacers. To compensate for driver side lean I think I have achieved around 3” lift up front but I desire a bit more, I don’t want completely level but a very subtle rake effect. We’ll see how these 700lb springs help :). In rear I have bilstein 5160’s ome 2895 2.5-3.0 lift and the rake is very high compared to front. I don’t really drive the car loaded with much weight and I hope ride quality is still good but if it’s stiff I won’t really mind to be honest :)

Will post results in about a week once Installed. Current photo

That's pretty much exactly what I have right now. 2895 springs with 5160's in the rear and 6112 on their 6/5 setting with the stock 600# springs. Definitely ass high.

I'm going with 650# springs since I want to keep the ride relatively comfortable. I just haven't decided which perch settings to use.

Does anyone know how much more lift the 650# springs will give versus the 600# springs, all else being the same?

Ok, for who this may helpful to....here you go. I upgraded the stock Bilstein 6112 front springs to eibach 700lb springs. I previously was on the 6th circlip and had added a warn winch mount low pro bumper and a winch. After that the front was sitting at 21.5” from hub to the upper Fender edge. After putting in the 700lb springs and moving the circlip up to the 7th ring, I’m up to 24” on both sides from hub to fender edge. I’m sitting pretty level front to rear as it has 1.5” Dobinsons springs in the rear. I do have 2” Dobinsons to drop in if once things settle I want the back slightly higher.

Bilstein 6112 front springs

I’ve got a 16 4runner and I am looking to redo the suspension. Initially, I wanted the Toytec boss kit but after reading I think the 6112/5160 will fit my needs a lot better since it is my daily and 96% of my driving is on road. I currently have a toytec leveling kit and the appearance has been great. The problem is that I have nosedive. On the front, I have a sso slimline bumper, 30 inch light bar, and a trd-pro slid plate. In the next 2 months, I will also have my winch installed with synthetic line. I want to say that I am looking at around a 100- 150lb increase in weight to the front which causes the nose dive. I want to get the 6112 in the front but I need to know about the correct spring to get. I heard the stock suspension has a 600lb front spring. there is an option for a 600 and a 700 lb spring. (I’ve heard there may be a 650 but I am unsure and that seems close to 700). I want to keep a leveled look at about the 1.6 mark but I do not want to do overkill with the spring and have a harsh ride for no reason. I am also uneducated in terms of preload and if that is adjustable. would you recommend the 600 or the 700 lb coils to get rid of the nose dive but still providing a smooth front end that is not overkilled.

I dont have much to add but thought the stock front springs were on the lower end of 500 like 525

The stock 6112 springs are 600#. The 650# springs are good for 80-140 pounds of added weight, and the 700# springs for above 150 pounds of added weight. I went with the 650# springs and am very happy. For what you have on your 4Runner I'd go with the 700# springs, no question.
