Bilstein Shocks 5100 vs Heavy Duty

I am looking at new shocks and struts did a search didn't turn anything up on 5100 vs the regular heavy duty Bilstein shocks (yellow and blue) I was looking and it seems most people have done the 5100 series shocks which are the offroad lifted series shock. However I found this website and they have a really good price on the regular Bilsteins it only lists 03 and up shocks for the 4runner but they should work on the 2010's Bilstein - KYB - Rancho - Monroe - Edelbrock Automotive Truck Shocks and Struts - Shockwarehouse.com What are everybody's thoughts on this? Not going to be bouncing through the desert or anything so for the trail runs I do these regular heavy duty Biltseins should do the trick right?

Sounds like more of a question for Bilstein. I think quite a few people have bought them with a toytech suspension or by themselves because the fronts are adjustable for height. I ordered a set of 5100's for that reason, giving me the ability to level out the truck without using a front spacer system.

I am still waiting for my shocks to come in so I can't tell you how I like them yet. But if you do a search for "Billstein" or "5100," you should find quite a few posts regarding these shocks. Try the 4th Gen section as well if you want to find out how people like them on their 4r.

My 4th gen have Bilstein Adjustable 5100 in the front. The reason is simply to level the rake.

In the rear, I have the Heavy duty Bilstein(yellow,blue) or the C514.
These are OEM replacement and does not provide a lift. The rear height in my 4runner is the same. The only thing I noticed is the stiffer ride than factory shocks.

If I'm correct, these heavy duty Bilsteins(c513Front and c514Rear) does not accomodate a good flex even when combined with a different coil, IMO bad investment if you are ocasional offroading. For a $20 difference in price, I'll get the 5100's all around... if ill plan to go offroad.

I don't need anymore height as far as lift since it is already lifted using ome coil up front and a toytec coil in the rear. I did a search looking for 5100 bilsteins didn't come up with much. I was just trying to see if anybody had used the Bilstein heavy duty shocks vs the 5100 series or even the ome shocks and struts. You can still use the 5100's even with a lift as long as they are used at the lowest setting from what I read. I have the light coils up front which can be used with stock struts but now I am planning on changing out all the shocks now just trying to get a good combo to work with the new coils this might be a good question for toytec but I am sure they are going to recommend what they have for sale not what i can get from another supplier.

Okay well after further investigation on toytecs website Bilstein struts are not recommended for ome coils and they recommend ome sport shocks for the superflex coils so after a bit more reading I answered my own question
