Bilstein TRD Pro suspension kit on sale PTR13-35140

@ CowboyTaco

Here's mine after six weeks or so of on-road service. So far no worse for wear and I don't feel like its dropped where I've noticed it, it definitely settled in the first week or so. Still rides nice and I'm not second guessing the lift or my choice on raising the front an extra inch with the daystar isolator.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the way it rides.

Looks like, indeed my springs are setting.

I think I will have too much of a front rake and probably I will have to add some front top spacers in addition to Daystar to compensate.

If thats the case, you guys get the alum spacers in front not the poly. The Eibasch/T13/SAW 1.5 in the rear should settle to just 1.25".

Thanks.
Questions:
- aluminum top spacers in addition to Daystar?
- 1.25 on top of what I have now?

Replace the Daystar with aluminum spacers, sorry.

I haven't read the whole thread, but since you are going to install the +1.0" Eibach springs, you'll need to raise the front to 2". A 2/1 lift will likely yield in 1.5 inches to just 1 inch of rake. Use aluminum spacers this time to have consistent lift measurement result. One inch of material will give you 2 inches up front. So, whoever sells that kit, I think that's the way to go.

The bad: There are few reports of TRD springs cracking due to preload spacers. Could just be bad units I guess..

Doesn't Dobson make a spring specific to the TRD Pro that will give you that additional lift up front?

Those pictures looks good to me. Those with front spacers looks even better, I should be contented with it and spend mod money for wheels with better offset to enhance the stance along with AT tires.

It seems that the safest way to lift the front of this TRD kit is by bottom pre-load like the 6112 version, and stay with the Eibach made front springs that comes with the kit.

So, I have a leaking rear shock.... how does one go about to solve this under the 1 year Toyota parts warranty? I had to give VIN to get the kit.

So I got it off a few days ago, looks like I damaged the rubber hose.
Does anyone have a broken shock I can get off of them?
Also anyone know the oil wt in these and how much?

That shock is toast. Put a 5100 on your 4runner and be done with it. Those reservoir shocks seem suspect, thats why they have a 90 day warranty. (For the 5160 retail version.)

Ouch! Do you have pics from when it was installed? I'm curious to see if anything was rubbing on it; or if it was in fact you, how you did that.

Personally, I wouldn't add the rear springs if you are sitting at a 1" difference currently. Seems like the stance would be just about perfect.

Now, onto the pics that you posted. I don't see anything that would indicate the daystar as the reason that you've settled an inch. I still think an inch seems like a bit much for them to settle.

I am a little curious if everything is lined up properly in your picture of the FR. The daystar appears to have more of an "S" shape to it and you can see a little gap at the top. I've seen that once before on a Tacoma and the fix was to disassemble everything and put it back together slowly and make sure that everything is aligned properly. It should look more like the other side.

The daystar spacer doesn't have notches for the mounting bolts. Therefore it slightly deforms. The stock isolator has notches to prevent this.

Has anyone else noticed settling after a few months of installation? Mine seems to have settled about a quarter of an inch or so. I have a set of wheelers daystar isolators hanging out in my garage... debating on installing them later this year.

I'm familiar with the spacer. While it doesn't have notches for the mounting bolt, it does have a raised lip on the inner opening.

This needs to be lined up and centered. Otherwise, it will look deformed. Notice how in TodiN 's pictures, the labeled FR has a gap between the daystar isolator and the shock mount. It isn't like that in the other picture (labeled FL). I've seen this before, and the fix is to disassemble and reassemble slowly while making sure everything is lined up properly.

I agree, I have to redo it. I think I know what I did wrong. If I remember, I did FR first and I secured the back nut first without going around.

It seems that the safest way to lift the front of this TRD kit is by bottom pre-load like the 6112 version, and stay with the Eibach made front springs that comes with the kit.

Without having to search back through, do you have a link for the bottom spacer your mentioning as the safest route?

I also confirmed that the kit I currently have, Revtek 1.5 Leveling Kit (linked above) does have the differential drop kit as well. The additional .25" over the daystar may help with the settling.

I was assuming the TRD suspension kit of the FJ is the same as the 4Runner version. The front coil spring seats in the 4runner pro shocks can be replaced by thicker aluminum, a preload from the bottom giving TRD Pro 1 inch of lift up front. Search Toytec TRD Baja lift( if I remember correctly LOL!). I don't know if it will work with FJ Pro Kit ( why not if same shock diameter and extended length)

Also if Im correct, that the front of the TRD Pro is 0.8 in higher than say the SR5 front, So if we add 1 inch to the TRD Pro front suspension, that would sum up to 1.8 inches of front lift if installed in an SR5?? Now we can add Eibach 1.0/T13/SAW 1.5 coils in the rear to complete the lift.

Appreciate the response and I found the kit you are mentioning. It states, "These spacers are designed for the larger Bilstein shock bodies which come on Special Edition TRD models" but does not list the FJ kit specifically.

Seems like an solid option unless someone has experience to say otherwise. Now i'm just between this and re-using the Revtek 1.5" spacer currently installed.
