I went ahead and ordered a kit, it won't ship until Monday so I hope it gets here before next weekend. Price is too good to pass up and worst case scenario I just have to get different springs.

Awesome. I was right there with ya. Can’t pass it up. I just got my email my order is processed and ships on the 27th. I did some research on the regular 6112 and the Trd Pro 6112. So the regular allows for up to 2.5” lift by having more clip grooved to raise the perch higher. Trd doesn’t have that on what we ordered so that’s where the toytec lower spring perch spacer does the same thing but adding only 1” and the Trd is already 1” higher set so I’m just going to have a machinist at my work make me a set of the toytec style spacers but just smidge thicker to get me 2.5” like the regular 6112’s. Then I’ll add a 1/2” top plate to get me 3” if needed. That’s my plan. Or unless someone can chime in and help us figure out a 2.5 lift coil spring that will work? ( length and spring rate to achieve 2.5”)
I’ll let y’all know how it goes. I’m guessing I’ll spend about 50 bucks more for coilover top hats if the kit is a disassembled kit and doesn’t have them. Or spend more money for replacement coils for the front if that’s needed for 2.5” lift. I’m gonna make some calls here in San Diego at some suspension shops and ask. I’ll keep u posted if u would like to know.

I’m installing it myself but contacting a shop in regards to if I’m better to swap the Trd coil spring for a 2 or 2.5” height lift spring. Or should I just have my machinist machine me a bit thicker spring perch spacer to act as if it had the extra height adjustability as the regular non Trd 6112 has since we don’t have 7 clip grooves cut in the Trd style 6112

You will be set then. It has 1” taller already and if you need a bit more, u can do the toytec. My case I need more to accommodate 285/70/17 tires I’m installing

Has anyone actually compared the shocks to see if they are the same shocks in both kits?

At this price, the springs are basically free and could be "upgraded" prior to installation if it can be determined that they are different from the 5th gen T4R kit spring,

or if you have the need for a stiffer spring to address the installation of a winch and/or heavy bumper...

If the shocks are the same for our 5th gens, this is a no-brainer while supplies last. :wow2::wow2:

Some places list the Bilstein adjustable 6112’s as being the same for the fj and 5th gen T4r.

2010-2016 Toyota 4Runner | 2010-2014 FJ Cruiser Bilstein 6112 Series Front Adjustable Shocks 0-2.5" Lift (46-227294)

Would be interesting to check toyota parts for the individual front oem 6112 part number for a 2014 fj trail team ultimate and a 2015 Tacoma Pro and a 2015 4runner Pro.
All these oem TOYOTA Bilstein 6112’s have the 2 clip position for spring perch and look very very similar. The Tacoma kit comes pre assembled with top hats. The 2015 T4r Pro kit also comes preassembled with top hats.

As far as additional lift, probably the toytech lower perch (additional 1”) as 10ac states or.....
One could run both driver and passenger 6112’s with the perch clip on the upper setting and then add additional 1/4” top plate spacers (stack) for additional height and for lean. You would need longer top plate studs for this. This may have a more forgiving ride as the coils wouldn’t be preloaded a bunch.

I’ve been googling, as u should as well to find an answer. I’ve seen where items such as coilovers showing fitment saying for 2010+ 4runner and fj cruiser and so on. That tells me since this kit is for fj then it should work. Also someone just stated above in this thread that at some Toyota sites says this is for 4runner and fj cruisers. Pull the trigger and get it. Not like u will be stuck with it if it doesn’t. I’m sure these will sell out. If it doesn’t work out I bet u could sell it on CL or here no prob and get all your money back.
I’m pretty sure they will fit. I’m installing these on my 2006 t4r.
Maybe someone else will chime in.

This is a Tacoma install but the T4r is identical. I installed my 5100’s with ome coils using this method. Worked great!
Couldn’t find a link for rears but it was a very straight forward install for rear shocks. Now mounting the resi on the 5160’s... not quite sure but I can’t imagine it being too difficult.
