Bilstein TRD Pro suspension kit on sale PTR13-35140

I was planning on doing the Bilstein 5100 on all 4 corners with the fronts set at 1.75. Would this TRD set up give me a similar lift of the Bilstein 5100 at 1.75 and be a better option?

This kit provides about 1 inch lift up front. You can add a top plate spacer to get to 2 inch. It is also beefier than the 5100s.

People are raving about it because they paid around $500 for a $1,700 kit. So to answer your question, yes you can buy much better at $1,700...but for around $500 you won't do better, and that's why people are raving about it.

The most I've seen discounted was $73 with most of them in the $30 off range. This is just from the first couple of pages. When I saw that, I was confused at the hype, as well.

I'm wanting to get something for my 2018 TRD Offroad. I may have to look into these, if they'll work.

So now I'm confused about how to upgrade my suspension. I was going to either go with Bilstein 5100's front and rear or 6112 front and 5100 rear with the front set at .85 and stock rear or 10mm OME spacer on the rear. Now that I see the TRD suspension so cheap, would it give me the same appearance (a lifted front end and more level appearance), but with better suspension components front and rear? The TRD suspension seems like it might be a better deal and give me the minimum lift, performance upgrade, and look I'm wanting.

Will anything be needed besides what's in the kit and will any modifications need to be made? It will be going on a 2017 TRD OFF Road Prem. w/o KDSS.

Seems like such an awesome setup for the money! That being said, I’ve got some concerns that really make me hesitant to jump. Maybe I could still be persuaded, but with my luck they’ll all be out of stock or the price will go up.

My hang up is that I had a discussion with a guy at Bilstein and he said he couldn’t access any specs because OEM stuff is kept pretty well locked up. What he did say is that you could bet with all the money that was invested in the TRD setups for both the FJ Cruiser and 4Runner, there are certainly differences in valving between both kits due to weight differences and other factors. He said the difference most likely isn’t just the valving either. I argued that they look identical down to the reservoir mounts, with the only difference being one coming preassembled with top mounts, but it still didn’t convince him.

Maybe the guy just didn’t know what he was talking about, but I’m still not certain. Toyota seems to normally use the same part numbers for the same parts across different vehicles, so why would they do this differently for the spring and shock part numbers across both kits? At a glance this kit seems to be impossible to beat for the money, but the engineer in me makes it hard to make the decision.

You bring up a lot of good points and I have similar concerns. Maybe someone will have some more info about it.

I got the rears in today...very straight forward with the PDF file that was posted earlier in the thread, perfect reference! I have TRD OR without KDSS...booted right up perfectly. I started tackling the front but couldn’t loosen the LCA enough for the no spring compressor method so gave up, I’ll give it another shot maybe tomorrow.

Might want to push that resi as far up as possible to prevent the link from hitting it when the rear wheels get tucked into the wheel well....

Good observation! Just checked, looks like I can push it up about .25”-.5” without having to cut the fender well

Does anyone how before and after side profile pictures? I'd really like to get a better idea of the amount of front lift and how level it might be on a 17' TRD Off Road.

My order was made on March 1st from toyotapartsdeal.com, they are having an issue getting their order from Toyota. Their sales department said they are work diligently to get it pushed through.

Has anyone who ordered after 2/23 received their kit yet?

I pulled the trigger on this kit. It's showing it shipping and will be here on the 16th of March. Side note, they did ask me for a VIN... I may or may not have borrowed one from a stealership...

Ordered 3/8 and delivered 3/12. No VIN requested. No issues. Kit appears to be complete. I will have to wait a bit to do the install... need it to warm up some more...
