Bilstein TRD Pro suspension kit on sale PTR13-35140

Anybody running this kit in a LE?
I am thinking I might snatch one of these up to have on hand for the inevitable X-REAS failure after warranty. I have already had to replace X-REAS once at the dealer at around 10K miles, so I am sure it will go out again. This will also give me a small lift in case I wanted to go with bigger/wider tires.
Just wondering if there will be any other fitment issues on the Limited.

I hope not because I just got it lol. I don't see why there would be issues though - it's essentially the same truck underneath across trims.

Just installed the front (did rear last weekend). Went very smooth with the no spring compressor method. Definitely reduced nose dive, feels more tight and controlled. Only driven it about 10 miles so far though. Front end measurements are as follows: Before: FR- 34 13/16”; FL 34 9/16”; After: FR- 35 7/8”; FL- 35 11/16”. Bottom line- right around 1”. Looks level. Here’s a pic, everything else is stock: 17 TRDOR 4x4

Did you have to adjust your headlights after doing this?

Now that I have these on my ‘17, thinking of putting the stock ‘17 cools and shocks on my ‘06, from what I’ve read they should be fine? I’ve replaced the ‘06 about 40K miles ago with KYB just not impressed really.

Thinking about swapping in the Wheeler's T1/T13 coil spring combo F/R with these Bilstein shocks. From what Im reading, should be good for a 2.5"F and 1.5"R lift and still play nice with OEM UCA's. Can anyone vouch for this?

Thanks!
Matt

Unfortunatley, the Wheeler’s T1 coils will not fit (this kit) front 6112 Bilsteins. The rear T-13 coil will work with this kit though. Dobinsons (link below)is supposedly coming out (next month) with a coil that will fit these (front) 6112’s that will get you a total of 2” lift.

(The Wheelers T-1 coil will work with a front adjustable Bilstein 5100.)

Ah, damn. That's disappointing. Do any other (currently available) springs work on the TRD kit 6112?

Not that I’m aware of.

If you did want to achieve a full 2.5” lift with this fj trail kit (1” lift), there are top plate spacers that give 1.5” lift (link below) that you can use to achieve the full 2.5” lift. These fit on top of the coil over and do not put more preload on the coil.

Ohh - so that's not a standard "spacer lift" I hear about? I assume these new shocks have no issue with that added height?

You can use other brand coilover springs in 3"x14" or whatever you find suitable for your needs. Kings 3x14. 600# or 650# for example, Trd tx baja 3"x14" 650# is another one.

There are spacers that preload coils and those that fit on top of the coilover. These that I linked are “top plate spacers” which fit on top of the coil. We could start a huge conversation/discussion/argument regarding the pros and cons of a top plate spacer.....in short, if you’re going to wheel (off-road) your 4 runner at fast speeds and routinely be bottoming out/topping out your suspension then spacers are probably not going to be the best route. If you are mostly street with moderate slower speed off-roading....many see no prob with this small of a top plate spacer.

There are larger top plate spacers 2”-3”. These can cause issues when suspension is fully bottomed out before bump stops stop the suspension. This can damage the shock body.

With all this said, keep in mind that when you lift you T4r fronts 2.5” , your stock uca’s may limit your alignment in being able to get to the most desirable settings. Aftermarket uca’s can fix this.
