You only got more there because of a dip in the ground. You didn't gain anything more at the skid than you did at the fender, it's impossible. The body and frame move together, the skid is bolted to the frame. Now when you add larger tires that will increase ground clearance so that will of course increase the clearance between the skid and ground. The ATZ P3 have been great so far. I run them in 295 so they are E rated and very heavy. Each tire and wheel weighs in at about 95 pounds. So far it seems running them at about 32 PSI yields the best road contact patch.

IFS can be tricky due to geometry. Kinda like how adding a 3/8" thick top hat spacer yields 3/4" of lift due to the way the lower control arm angles change the angle of the shocks and add additional lift. All kinds of confusing stuff lol. Anyway, to get the most accurate measurements, always measure center of the hub to the bottom of the fender before and after any suspension modification. That way you have an identical start and end point to use. You'll never have to guess using that method.

That’s a good looking lift. Does anyone know if the Taco TRD Pro kit shocks 6112/5160 will fit the 4Runner? I have a line on a new setup at a great price. It uses the Eibach front coils with 2” lift. From everything I’m reading, the 4Runner/FJ have more compatibility than the Taco/4Runner. I know the rears have a different setup for leaf springs vs coil springs but do the shocks have different fittings or valving/response rates?

My 4Runner is officially sold and this kit never got installed. Available for $650 just the kit or $700 with the new top mount hardware. Not really wanting to ship at this time. Located near Atlanta.

Tacoma rear shocks are shorter and have a different lower bushing and a much smaller lower bushing eye. Fronts are likely the same.

TRD Pro stock rear coils are the same as all other model rear coils that's why the kit doesn't come with rear coils.

FJ kit is almost identical to the 4R kit. Only difference is you get a 14" long front spring with the FJ kit rather than a 13" long front spring with the 4R kit. I have FJ kit, paid $640 delivered to my door brand new from Toyota. Install was 100% bolt in and go, rides great, looks great, couldn't be happier.

The FJ kit doesn't offer more lift than the 4R kit. The lower spring seat is lower on the shock body of the FJ shock so it all works out to be the same. Installing the FJ or 4R Pro suspension under your 4R will lift the front 3/4" and doesn't change anything in the back at all. As for the FJ kit I bought, yes it was the one on clearance. There are none left in the country through Toyota but they do pop up around here occasionally.

Thanks, I get that but I only care for the # under the skid plate (RCI 3/16) and I got a bit more there than I did at the fender, which I found interesting. Hence the question.

Actually, we are both right. If the vehicle is lifted the same amount front and rear, than the lift under fender and skid plate will be the same.

However, lifting the front only without lifting the rear results in different lift at skid plate vs fender. I just put Eibach 1" in the rear (Dobinsons 1-1.25 front coils) and the front dropped from 1.25 lift at fender and 1.5 at skid plate to 1.125 at fender and 1.25 at skid plate. If the two springs provided identical lift, there would be no difference between fender and skid plate clearance gain.

So it seems that "leveling" screws things up. One learns something new every day, lol.

The FJ kit works on an 08 without issue. 99% bolt in, maybe 100% bolt in. Some say they have to open up the upper rear shock mount hole a hair, others say it fits perfectly. Use this kit along with 5th gen rear coils and you'll get about 1" lift front and rear.
