Some of these guys found the Bilstein 6112's and 5140 package on discount from Toyota for like 450 bucks... wonder if these would be a bolt on to our 4th gen rigs?

Interesting... I don't think it's totally bolt on, I forget what needs to be changed but somebody did it. Still, the savings may be worth it as you're essentially getting 6112/5160's for the price of 5100's.

And the 6112 includes springs..

here you go... definitely may be worth it for somebody. Not sure if I'd do it.

well its funny I have had bilstein 5100's and 2017 4runner springs in my trunk for a couple months now, just need to get them installed. but then this pops up and it makes me think about going the 6112 route...

I just purchased this kit and it was 467 bucks!! There was nothing to think about. 1700 plus bucks or 467? Lol
It is designed for fj cruiser. Will bolt up.the only issues I’ve seen have been the bushing on the rear shock at the mount at bottom. But I think that’s an issue for Tacoma swaps. I wanna say it’s all same. I have a 06 t4r this is going on.
Y’all may wanna think quick, prolly gonna small out at some places that’s selling it cheaper than most. But all I can say is at toytec, the rear shocks ONLY cost $400. There are maybe slight differences in spring rates and tuning but not much from what some folks are saying. Just can’t beat the price at all. I’ll have mine Friday. Follow the other main thread and pics will be posted.

did you verify if they are actually 6112/5160?

The FJ never got these shocks, so I'm confused why they're listed for FJ. Only the 4Runner TRD Pro got that package.

Edit: just read through the thread looks like some ebay posts show the pics of the TRD Pro suspension for the FJ.

Still there needs to be modification done to the body to make them fit correct?

The rear shock mount on the body needs to be enlarged I understand.
And the shock hole also?

Actually I don’t think it needs to have rear shock lower mount hole modified. I just bought some icon rear shocks and hole is same. Someone above left the link to what mod is needed to make work on 4th gen.... it’s very minimal. I saw the link and read it. I didn’t let the MINIMAL modification hold me back from the Trd Pro kit for $467! Lol. I’d rather have this kit by far rather than 5100 series. Lol
I actually just bought new 5100 bilstiens and Ome springs and top strut mounts and was ready to install then saw this... Now I’m selling the 5100 setup that’s new and going to pair it with the 5160 rear resi shocks and sell because I’d rather keep my icon rears. I’m planning to add the toytec 1” lower spacer and 1/2” top and good to go. Maybe I’ll swap the spring, and still I’ll be saving lots of cash for a very nice 2.5” front setup.

I just installed a full trd pro kit and I had to make two minor mods to them so they would fit. First was the lower front shock mount was too wide it needs to be shaved down a little bit. Second the rear upper shock mount hole in the frame needs to be enlarged slightly.

How is the ride quality going to the TRD kit from the XREAS system? I have a 2006 Sport with XREAS, it has 111,xxx miles, though nothing is wrong with the system it's definitely time to start weighing my options..

Also, have the chance to get the stock suspension from a 2017 Tacoma Sport for $75. That includes the new UCA's as well. So for $75 I can get rid of the XREAS system and have new shocks, front coils and upper control arms.

The rear upper shock mount hole is part of the frame correct? This means, that if you ever replace your rear shocks again, you'll need to go with an FJ rear shock because a standard '4th gen fitment' would now be too small for the shock mount hole?

Also interested in ride quality. Could you also post a measurement from the center of your hub to the top of the wheel well at the fender? Just wondering. What lift these provide. I’m guessing 1.75-2.25 range

Good Looking out!!!! I'm gonna have to pull the trigger on this myself. Anyone from the Richmond, VA or surrounding area want to give me a hand installing this.

This looks like an excellent find, but I am thinking I am not quite knowledgeable enough to get all of this figured out wrt the mods needed and different springs for bumper/winch/rtt.

Was the cheapest but there was another toyota place that wasnt much more and their shipping was cheaper so it nearly was same as link i provided.

Just of got off the phone with Camelback in AZ, and they said there were 503 kits available nationwide, and they could have it in stock in 2 days. So I don’t know what to believe.

Honestly the ride is a lot better than the xreas no where near as harsh( I guess more bouncy and unsettled at times). My truck had a whole brand new xreas system on it when I bought it so it wasn’t worn out.

I’ll try and take some measurements when I get a sec. I just installed trd pro wheels and toytec trd pro leveling kit. Since I’ve had multiple people ask what setup I’m using I thought I’d share my setup for others with questions.

My setup is:
Used trd pro 4Runner shocks with trd pro stock front springs
O’Reilly auto parts fj cruiser rear springs roughly $70 for the pair
Bilstein 5160 resivoir clamps amazon $50

Toytec Part numbers for leaving the front:
BAJA1-B
TOP1-T
TAC-DR-05 Diff drop kit
