Bilstein vs. Rancho

from what little reviews I just skimmed through they both seem to have the same market appreciation.
bilstein is much more comon in the t4r world, I mainly only hear about rancho shocks on jeep forums. I did have a set of rancho shocks on an old dodge and hated them switch to bilsteins and had a great improvement in ride quality; however, I may have just not spec'd the racho's properly.
with all the bilstein 5100's absorbing the 4runners on this site I would go that route without a second thought.

I agree with Austin.
I also had a couple of sets of Ranchos on my last vehicle, 2000 silverado, I had the RS9000s and RS9000XLs but in the end I went with 5100s and they rode better. I also had the in-cab remote ride adjustment setup with the Ranchos, that was really nice for transitioning from street to dirt but the 5100s still performed better.
I will say that I've had great experiences with customer service from both companies. Rancho gladly shipped me two replacement shocks (newer models at that), after I overextended the ones I'd purchased, and told me to just trash the old ones rather than go to the trouble of sending em back.
I also had the 5100s on my 4Runner for a time and they rode very well, but that was with FJ coil springs not the factory ones.

I've never been much of a fan of Monroe shocks/struts. After 2-3 years the ride suck...the shocks/struts never failed..just that the ride wasn't that good.
Rancho was started by Monroe shocks years ago in response to more people buying vans and trucks. There isn't much difference between the Monroe shock or a Rancho shock.
