Bilsteins/Limited setup

Searched this forum AD NAUSEUM lately looking at lifts and mods. Current setup is BFG 275/17 on TE wheels on my 2010 LE. Love the tires but want a slightly more aggressive stance. Daily driver. Off roading consists of weekly fly fishing/kayak fishing in remote locales in my home state of Alabama. Want to go with bilsteins x4 and potentially 1.5 spacer in rear from toytec. 2 questions. I welcome any and all hazing....there's no crying in baseball.

1. To determine if I have XREAS I have to crawl underneath and look for.....pics????

2. Anyone running 275/17 with bilsteins at 2.5 front and rear 1.5 spacers??? Pics???

Xreas look like two canisters with two hard lines threaded into them. If you have a limited, you have xreas. You can check the last two pages of my build to see the canisters removed. Link is in my sig.

I'm running 285/65r18 with bilsteins all around. I'm running full coils in the rear but you will achieve the same height.

Very helpful. Just spent an hour gawking at the build pics. Wife gives me the guilty "what are you so mesmerized with" look????

So.... If I have XREAS.... And if I'm ok with the current handling/ride, would I be better off going with the toytec (or comparable) 2.5/1.5 spacer kit???? The one that says "works with vehicles that have XREAS" in all caps??? I mean.... It's in all caps so it's IMPORTANT. It actually saves me a few dollars. And I think it will also fit my current wheels/tires AND allow me the option of going with 285s in the future.

I'm running 5100 on all 4 corners, 265/70/17 with airbags in the back but only at 1.5 in the fronts. If you want the xreas, you are only going to have the option of a spacer kit. Should make you able to go 285 with some wheel well liner mod (search will locate that for you). If your happy with the ride, only want the look, my guess is spacers are good. Be careful looking at build threads though or you might become a victim like me... my ride now looks nothing like the avatar, but I am waiting for all my armor to go on before I take another pic!

Thanks for the replies. Crap.... Now I gotta research spacers. Local shop (sport trucks, Bham) warned against cheap plastic spacers. Toytec appears to be aluminum. You guys seem to speak highly of cornfed. Seems like it's back to the drawing board. Any further recs welcomed on this thread but I'll go back and research on my own. Thanks guys.

Cornfed is good to go. I have a brand new set of 1" rear spacers for sale if interested. Depends on your goals. If you just want to lift it for looks you will be fine with a spacer kit. If you want performance you wont miss xreas if you buy a real lift

If cornfed is still using the "crush your coils" spacer, stay away.

So you don't think I'll miss the XREAS with bilsteins all the way around???? Will it make any sensors go off on my dash or anything??? I do want improved offroad capabilities and not just looks. The biggest fish and the best scenery are where the fewest people can get. And the trails can get pretty gnarly the further you trek.

I did the exact same thing that you are going through right now in terms of a lift. I have a 2010 Limited that had the XREAS. Easiest way to determine if you have XREAS is look at the front strut and rear shocks. If you have XREAS, there will be a hydraulic hose attached at some point to all four suspension pieces. I ended up going with Eibach springs in the front with bilstein 5100 all the way around and superflex springs in the rear. Ride is better than stock. Originally, I was going to go spacers but want to do things right, didn't want to destroy anything when I go light 4wheeling. I also swapped out the UCA which I highly recommend doing even if you aren't lifting your vehicle. It changes the way the vehicle handles dramatically (no drift).

You will not miss xreas. I took it off and have never looked back. I like a slightly firmer ride than xreas anyhow. It isn't harsh but it is a little firmer. I suggest the toytec for max lift with 5100s or you can get the 5100s and use the oem coils for a softer ride but in that case the back won't really get a lift. If you want max height out of the 5100s you need new coils in the back at least (if not uca as well). The nice thing about toytec is that it is adjustable without taking things apart. Having said that, I didn't go that route. I simply went 5100s and I think with about 10lb in the airlift I have about .5 in the back at most.

I pulled the xreas from my '13 Limited and put on the Toytec ultimate kit and don't miss the xreas at all. The rear springs raised it a little more than I wanted, so I put the stock rear springs back in with 1 1/2" toytec spacers. The longer Bilstein shocks give you full travel with spacers, unlike a spacer kit with stock shocks. I went up barely 2 1/2" on the front and couldn't quite get the alignment to spec. I put in the LR UCAs and all is well. The ride is firm but not harsh, and overall ride and handling is definitely improved from the stock xreas.

Went and discussed install with mechanic today at shop. Gonna order bilsteins with superflex 2" coils for rear. He agreed I'll never miss the XREAS. Thanks for all the advice. Now onto obsession #2....sliders......Pics to come when it's all done....
