Bimrunner Build Thread & Pics

Picked up the runner today but had to get right over to my son's 9th grade graduation (our town has 7-9 as Jr. high). I'll get more pics and details of what has been done. mikey's2010SR5, we finally took care of the offensive sheet metal that the bumper exposed...

Sitting higher with the new shoes (34s) and Icon lift.

Crapy pics before I realized the phone camera lens was covered in pocket grime...:yield:

Looks good. Do you think the gears and 34 are a good fit? That would be the setup I am looking to go with down the line.

Its perfect. RPMs are down a bit more than I expected at 70MPH. With 33s it was 2500 or slightly more. Now it was down around 2300. I didn't realize the difference would be so much. Seems like gearing and tire size is correct. Was slightly low, but not too bad with the 33s.

Looks great Ben!! Was the power steering cooler difficult to install & rerouting the lines? I am having everything installed on Monday and want to give the guys any heads up to make it easier for them. Thanks again for all of your help and feedback!

Wow, that thing looks Awesome and i see some 14 tail lights on there as well.

Nice to see there is some well built Rigs in the area. Not that I can keep up with my lightly modded T4R but still. :wow:

Look good Ben

Hey man, can't wait to see it on your rig. I don't know how easy/hard it is but you could email luke and ask him. He did it for me.

Couple more showing how we cleaned up exposed parts on the front. Also alignment details. Given I've maxed the suspension lift, I'm pretty happy with the numbers.

What are your numbers now with the bigger tires, I assume you are still at 3" lift upfront hug to fender?

Point in time I finally see this thing in person it is going to suck for me, I am going to want it all too!

Well I really was measuring overall gain going to 34s and the Icon lift with springs. Not fully settled but I went from 37.5" ground to fender to 40". Some of that is tire, but my rear was sagging so my coilovers were not maxed out in lift. Probably only was set for 1.5" of lift otherwise I would have been really nose high. Lets meet up sometime!

bimrunner with all the extra weight and all. Do you think you will need a tranny cooler or would the gearing you did be just fine?

Tranny seems happier net of the weight increase with the gears. Much easier shifting and stays in norm temps (had it checked out by some techs at the shop that does my work). I don't have a scan gauge but it's something I plan to get. I just don't try hauling up long steep grades. My guess is it is fine the way I have it.

Moab Rim
Tower Arch (fam fun)
Elephant Hill (fam fun)
Kane Creek
Fins n things (night run)
Hells Revenge
Top of the World

A full schedule!

Have you been before?

Moab Rim is a blast. Fins is fun but easy. Hells Revenge is the best. Kane Creek is okay, but Golden Spike is way better.

Fins is really only so we can get out and stargaze at night. Easy is good for night in my book. We may substitute Kane and Golden Spike. We are still undecided on that. 1st time to Moab! Just waiting for my pal to show up so we can head out!

How long are you going to be around?

Definitely do Golden Spike over Kane Creek, you will thank me. Kane Creek is easy and there is only one decent hill climb that has any challenge. Golden Spike is a long day, but you get to run parts of three different trails and it is very scenic.

I was just there in May and I miss it already. I took my Tacoma and ended up breaking two u-joints and three teeth off of my rear ring gear in one shot. Luckily it was on the last trail of the last day (Hells Revenge- Tip Over Challenge). Funny thing was I made it through Fins, Moab Rim, Hells Gate twice, and Escalator all before that. Took out the rear driveline, got strapped the rest of the way out, limped to the hotel, spent the night under the truck pulling the ring gear out of the third, and drove 1000 miles home in front wheel drive. All this and I still had a blast.

Take care, be safe, and have fun!
