Bimrunner Build Thread & Pics

Told Aaron about it, but we're doing a Rubicon run 9/13~9/14. We've been discussing it in my build thread over on MUD. Hopefully you can make it. 4Runner is looking great Ben, but I think you know which one I'm partial to :)

Is Luke going on that trip too? He txt me about a trip too I think that weekend. I unfortunately can't make it on that weekend due to other plans. I know what you like best! I want to 3 link both my rigs!

Does he do front bumpers for older 4Runners as well or just the newer ones?:nicethread:

I think he has not yet so would need a vehicle in house to modify the design. You should contact him and ask though. He has done other gen rear but I don't think he has done fronts.

Curious, how do you think your 4runner would have done on the Rubicon as it sits now?

It would have been fine. I just need to do a few things that annoy me. A few adjustments that need to get done to make full stuff in the rear better. Angles are a little off since I went up to 34s with the rear bumper so we are going to modify it slightly for the bigger tire. Otherwise, I'd have taken it on the con.

Some add'l pics from Summit...

Ben, can you help me out with some additional info on how Luke mounted those bikes like that? I've never seen them mounted like these and now since my $500 4 bike yakima mount won't fold up... ugh! ... I then need to look at other options. For what I can tell there is a mount of some sort.... by looking at one of the pics.

Thanks brother.

Well, it is a one off bike rack he built that mounts to the ladder on my bumper (he makes them as an accessory to the LC bumpers he sells a bunch of). Prob isn't going to help you much though. What I've done in the past is get a hitch extension and mount the bike carrier to that. It isn't ideal but it works.

You're up early... :thumb3:

Thanks Ben, I was trying to avoid the extension route but I guess I have no choice.

Front Bumper Make

I wasn't planning on having a build thread but after thinking about it I think it might actually help some people. I don't have a ton of spare time and skill to do a lot of things others on here do, but I have made the search function my friend and accomplished a lot in one year. From stock 2013 LE to what I have now and I smile every time I drive! This is my daily driver, weekend warrior, family wheeler, overland vehicle, and camp truck. Personally, I love it. Everyone has different needs and likes so you might like some things and hate others but that is what is so great about these vehicles: there are lots of options for you.

So far I have accomplished the following:

Armor:
4x4 Labs front bumper
4x4 Labs sliders
4x4 Labs rear bumper
RCI skids including fuel tank skids

Suspension:
Toytec Ultimate
TC UCA
Airlift 1000 with in cab controls and gauge

Recovery:
Warn VR-10000 with synthetic rope

On board air:
ARB Twin Compressor

Roof Rack:
Bajarack flat utility rack

Lights:
Rigid Industries SRQ2 Amber Fogs
Rigid Industries SR-30 Behind front grill
V-LED low and high beams
Superbright LED swap for interior
LED light bolts for rear lic plate

Nitro 4.56 Gears
ARB Front & Rear Lockers
Kodiak Industries Dual Battery setup
285/70/17 KM2
17 König Countersteer Type x Wheels

Tints including sunroof and front windshield strip

What is the make of the front bumper? How can I get one of these on my rig?!

4x4Labs makes them. You can contact Luke as he has made a few for others as well. Best way is his email as they are a pretty small boutique shop but a well known in the LC community. His email is [email protected] or [email protected]. Let me know if you have difficulty contacting him and I can usually get him to call you back.

you quoted your own answer. under armor, 4x4 Labs front bumper. looks like they do custom built stuff.

They do quite a bit of kit stuff for LC and have production pieces for the 4runner, but that has only been in the last year and he is a bit behind on his website... lol. There is one guy here who has done his front bumper as a kit and about 5 others (besides me) that have his 4runner front bumper. Sliders are going on more rigs. A few of us have his rear bumper as well. I'm spoiled though as he is local to me so I've been able to have it all done in his shop.

bimrunner that 4x4labs bumper is probably the best and out of the box design I've seen for the fifth gen, love the way it looks on the front end!

I am torn between that bumper and the one below. Thoughts?

I think they have similar design elements. I personally like mine best because it is unique and built for specific uses. I'm going to guess you'd probably be happy with either. I wish the one you posted had a little more going on in the front but it is super clean.

it's the new one built for Toytec by InSain Fabrication, I personally don't like it, their other version on Toytecs Sema 4runner looks a little better in my opinion but sorta ugly. Nice thing is its aluminum, btw their aluminum rear bumper on the same toytec rig is awesome!

Per your recommendation I just emailed Luke. Was the install very difficult?
